For me, full restriction really didnt set in for many months. You are still only a few months out of surgery. It will come. But in the mean time, do try to stick to your portion sizes and stay away from slider foods. I cannot stress strongly enough about slider foods. You band does not work when you eat them. You have to eat the correct foods.

Are slider foods high calories soft or liquid foods that slide on through the band?

Slider foods are anything that you want to eat, and take a drink of Water with it to get it down.

That's why they called it sliders,

I COULDN'T SWALLOW A THING, so I had to drink Water just to get it down.

When they fixed it... I don't need anything to help it go down,

Slider foods are foods that slide right through the band. Ice cream, pudding, etc. Doesn't matter if you drink Water with it or not. They are just foods that are not great choices that are generally eaten because they go right through.

II was banded October 6th 2010 and lost 40lbs in the first three months... but then - then it all got out of hand. I have no restricition even though when I go to have my fills and drink barium it hardly goes through. But then I go home and - no problem.

I feel like I failed. I feel like its another failure in loosing weight. Even my boyfriend always reminds me to stop eating.

I did loose 42lbs... that is great...

it has been 6 months since the surgery and they are trying phentermine again but it only makes me 20% less hungry.

I eat about 75% of how much I was eating before the surgery.

Anyone - ??? Anyone??? Does anyone have or had the same problem and how did you deal with it???

Don't beat your self up.... your doing fine. I did the same thing. At first I felt hardly any restriction and had to monitor my food in take. Dinning out was hard for me, so I started portioning out what I know to be about what I should eat and put the rest away.

I was banded nov. 10, 2009 and until March I had only lost 40lb pounds. But then I started exercising and the rest just came off. I started at 223 and now I weigh 153. It has taking me a year and three months. Remember every ones weight loss journey is different. Embrace the pounds you have lost.....

You're 2 months and 20 pounds ahead of me. I will be THRILLED if I've lost another 20 lbs by the time I'm 5 months out. I am only losing a few pounds a month, I wish it was faster but considering I have a hard time drinking my Water and don't exercise much, it's okay. I think you've done GREAT. Tell the BF to clamp it. That's what I tell my husband if he even STARTS to look or open his mouth about what I'm going to eat. LOL

Well !!! I guess 2 of us come from 2 different teachings.

The way I was Taught at HENRY FORD HOSPTTAL BARIATRIC CENTER is : a slider is any type of food that you want to get down by drinking Fluid "making it able to slide threw the pouch, into the stomach." So that you can continue to eat.

Ice Cream, and stuff like that even chocolate that melts in your mouth and will go down is a simple NO WAY ! Not to be used at all. Do to calories.

It is WLS. so why would you want to screw up everything you went through.

Hope that makes sense.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
