I feel absolutely full on Jello and water.. I eat half a jello then the other half later.. I doesnt seem like im getting alot in. Also i can only drink up to 32oz of fluids. I feel HUGE and bloated so i dont know if im getting enough fluids. This is only my 2nd day post op. Also ive been taking the pain meds every 4 hours bc i get uncomfortable if i dont! is anybody else having a hard time getting fluids in the first few days?

That's normal, don't worry :) just drink as much as you can don't worry about getting the full amount, just sip every couple of minutes

I tried to drink as much as i could the first few days. You are all swollen inside so it's probably not unusual that you can't eat/drink a lot. The one thing that help me with all the bloating and gas was to get walking as much as i could to move it around. Once that all settles down, you start feeling better & able to eat/drink some more.

I was banded on the 15th.I have not been able to get 64 ounces in yet.I am sipping all day on a combination of liquids which also include broth.I think that is normal.I am chewing a kids Multivitamin also.

For the first few days you may only be able to get down 24 or so ounces easily if that (my Dr figured I'd get down about 8 oz the first day, around 16 oz the second day, and so forth). You're very swollen and healing. Watch the surgery on YouTube to see what kind of trauma you've just gone through. That will put it into perspective.

And you don't need to be eating Jello at this point if you aren't able to tolerate it.

You likely won't be able to eat much or drink much for the first few days, I was on liquids for 7 days.

It's okay to stay on liquids, just be sure to be drinking Protein shakes to get some calories and Protein. Don't drink only Water, you need calories, protein, and carbs right now to heal.

Thank you all for responding! Im feeling a little better today. My doc told me that it was okay for me to eat Jello. But it has me extreme full after just eating half of the cup. But today is my 3 day post op so im going to try a slim fast and see how that works. Hopefully i will be able to eat creamed Soups soon. But im not rushing it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
