New and getting banded soon!

Hi everyone!

My name is Lindsey and I'm going to be getting banded soon.

Actually my surgery is over my spring break. It's 3/11/2011.

Let's see I've had weight issues my entire life, I'm sure you all how the diet roller coaster goes.

I was a frequent flyer... I'm now up to the highest I've ever been which is around 320.

I will post my actual recorded date on 2/23/2011 when we weigh me for the pre-op diet.

My story of why I'm getting the band is really sweet.

My father was a quadraplegic and from that became very ill about 3 years ago.

He recently passed away, in October of 2010.

I miss him very much but he left me a gift I didn't know about until about 2 weeks ago.

He had left in his will that I could have 20,000 dollars to put towards this surgery in order to get my lapband.

Because my insurance has denied me about 3 times now.

My Dad was amazing, really and I really hope this lapband gives me a chance at a new and healthy...life.

Well thanks everyone, I really look forward to reading posts here and joining this community.

That's amazing Congrats and good luck with everything sweetie:) Keep me posted.

I'm sorry for your loss, but at least he is at peace now. What a wonderful gift from what sounds like a wonderful father. My father passed away dec 2009, he was very sick for about a year after having a heart attack. We talked about me getting surgery many times and he said he'd do anything to help me get it, he just wanted me to be healthy and happy. Towards the end I found out he had been saving all of his social security for the last few years for me. My insurance paid for most of it but not all, so what he left me helped. Thank you for this post, it made me think of my Daddy and how selfless he was for me.

Congratulations and best of luck to you!

That is so sweet and touching, what an amazing gift. I'm really sorry for your loss, I can't imagine what that must be like.
