    Need some new exercise ideas.

Okay so I was banded March 11th and the weight is starting to really come off now. I've been exercising as much as possible and being so much more active. Actually for the first time I went to the lake. I was so surprised, because before when I was 327 pounds there was no way I'd have ever got in a bathing suit on a boat. lol. Anywho, I'm down to 260.5 now and I'm wanting to switch up my exercise routine, without overdoing it. Right now I'm doing 30 minutes every morning of cardio. My mom and I do different machines every day. We have an elliptical and a treadmill so we rotate. I'm always working really hard to. I make sure to keep my pulse in the 150-160 range and I sweat like a man. Any ideas of how to spice things up?

I really don't think I can do it

I'm not 18, but I've had my band since March and I wish I had had this surgery when I was 18. I'm only 23 right now and this band has taught me so much about myself. Just sit down and really weigh the pros and cons. The pain is very minimal. I didn't even get pain medication. I got up, walked straight out of the hospital and was back to school the next morning.

I have a 7 month old German Shepherd. He's the best. He's from working lines and we're getting into tracking and SAR. He's an amazing dog!

    Should I exercise or not?

Okay here's what happened to me. In May I worked my ass off. I worked out 5-6 days a week for 30-40 minutes and killed it. I was eating 1200 calories a day and getting around 80 grams of Protein. But I didn't loose anything I only lost 3 pounds. My doctors were really upset and I felt really discouraged as well. In June I continued to work out, not loosing anything. However when my work out partner went on vacation I stopped working out. In that 10 days, I lost 15 pounds. So what should I do? Should I stop working out as much? Maybe 3 to 4 times a day? Or should I just stop and let the weight fall off that way? I like working out but I want to work out and also loose weight. Can I do both?

    Should I exercise or not?

Okay I am going to continue to exercise I really missed exercising. I liked the way I felt. I was getting into my older jeans from the bottom of my closet. I was feeling amazing. I agree that the 15 pounds of weightloss is probably from the exercise previous to that it's just annoying that in order to see that I had to stop the exercise to see my scale move. I am going to go back to exercising 6 days a week like I was and then up my calories to about 1400. Does that sounds better?
  8. Okay so I work out 40 minutes of cardio in the mornings. I'm working my way slowly up to an hour. I am now going to start lifting in the evenings as well probably about 20-30 minutes starting out, nothing hardcore or heavy. I just want to do some lightweight toning, small weights, leg exercises and situps..etc. My question being I just recently moved my calories up to 1200 because I was only eating 1000 but I saw a huge stall on the scale and figured I wasn't eating enough. Should I leave it at 1200? Or will the lifting in the evenings cause me to need to increase my calories too? Thanks for your input!

    Is this normal?

Okay so I had my second fill yesterday my first fill I didn't feel anything really. So all of this is new.. I am now at 3.5ccs. So... I did the 24 hours of liquids like they wanted me to. I had a yogurt and ceral(dry) this morning, all was good. For dinner I made a hamburger and some fries. Well I tried eating a fry and almost died. It was immediately stuck. I stopped...I let it clear down, felt it unlodge and what not. (Not my first stuck episode.) So I thought I hadn't chewed enough. I then ate a few pieces of the hamburger, all was good, went down fine. I went back to the fries...made sure to chew and chew...stuck again. So my question is...am I too tight? Or is it I'm just not going to be able to tolerate fries?

Approx. Cost in U.S. for self-pay

I did self pay. It was 17,000 total.
  11. Let me explain. I researched the band back in January decided it was the surgery I wanted. I drained my entire savings and went for it. I lost 27 pounds on the pre op diet. I did the healing and just got my first fill yesterday. I now have 2 Ccs in my band. Im still so hungry I could eat a small buffalo. I feel no restriction at all and my scale is still stuck at what I was after my pre op diet. When will the weight loss come? I'm so tired of waiting. When will I feel less hungry? I can't talk to my doctors because their morons. They don't even want me counting calories... I feel so uneducated. I just want information. What to expect!!!! When will results show. I have all this pressure from my family to loose weight and they are now saying things like I wasted 16,500 dollars. It's really depressing. Can someone just tell me what to do to loose some weight!!!!!!!

    Counting Calories..

So um... My doctor is against counting calories but I want to start counting calories and keeping a food log. So basically he's no help. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to pick a good calorie deficit to put myself at. Is there any specific way to calculate it? Thanks for the help. I had my first fill today. It was kind of painful but it's all good now. I have 2cc's in my band. Thanks in advance!

    Needing support.

So I could really use some support with this band. Is anyone interested in maybe swapping emails and being like weightloss buddies? To check in on one another and seeing how each other is doing? I'm feeling really discouraged at the moment. I'm 2 weeks post op this morning and the scales a little high. I know not to expect weightloss the first 6 weeks.. I'm just, conflicted. Yesterday I met 3 people who had the band and all were still severely overweight. I'm scared I wasted a lot of money and I just want to feel better about it. I'm especially worried because my Mom is the one that paid for my surgery and she's starting to get really frustrated... She just doesn't understand. Plus I have people telling me different things. My doctors office is telling me to never count calories, never diet again...etc...because they said the band does it all. I can't see that happening!!

    Calories.

Hi everyone, I want to know what I should start restricting myself to when it comes to calories. What is a good range? How much Protein do I need daily? I want to start a food diary, and this Monday I start mushy/pureed foods. So I figured I'd start with the diary and exercise on Monday!! Thank you ahead of time!

    Skin Tightening Cream

Well to help your skin feel better... I use a mixture. I have really dry skin on like my feet and stuff...plus it's just good for your skin to feel tighter, but it does fade stretch marks, doesn't repair them. I am not saying it like....makes you have less flabby skin or anything....but my mixture is: Fruit of the Earth: Vitamin E tub 4oz. mixed with Palmers Cocca Butter Vitamin E 3.5oz. It's really good!! Both at Wal-Mart. Cheap and I put it on after a shower and before sleeping.

    Post Op 10 Days... Questions!!!!!

Okay that makes sense...I was at 299 by my surgery but now I'm up to 304....My first fill is scheduled for April 19th. I really want to at least get back to 299...I feel really discouraged. I just want to loose a little.
  18. Okay. So I was banded 3/11/11... I lost 27 pounds on the preop diet, but the scale hasn't moved. It's actually went up a little. I've been following the full liquids diet...I've not had any milkshakes or anything. All I eat is creamed Soups (barely) and tomato Soup...Water, Jello, popsicles. When will I start to loose? Also, they told me... I have a tradition sized band. How large is that? Is that like 10 cc's? I'm not sure. I know they were surprised I didn't have to have the large band which is 14cc's. Any tips? What should I do?
  19. I am interested in the replies... I am one week post op and have yet to have the scale move... I lost 27 pounds pre op diet...but I'm still standing at the same weight
  20. So I did the pre-op diet for 2 weeks. I lost a total of 27 pounds. So I'm doing good. I was banded early this morning, minimal swelling and so far it's not to painful. So I have a question, I was told it's uncommon to loose weight your first month? Is that true?
  21. So my banding day is rapidly approaching and I'm wondering. I have a small puppy to attend to after surgery. Will I be able to pick him up after the surgery? I mean not immediately after...but at least like a few days after? What I mean by pick up is like taking him out to pee or to get on the couch. He's about 10 pounds. Yes no? If no....what will happen if I do?

    Lifting stuff.

I think they mean like straining to lift like boxes and stuff. Cause I can't just not pick my dog up. :/ My mom is only going to be helping care for me the day of the surgery and that night.
  23. Anyone know a lapband friendly dietitian in Kentucky?
  24. Okay so I'm scheduled to be banded 3/11/11. I am paying out of pocket...so I do not get to see a dietain. The only information I have is the seminar information. I understand that when I come out of the surgery I'll be on a special diet until my stomach heals and I get used to it. But my main question is what happens after that? Does the band do the dieting for me? And all I have to do is exercise? Or is there rules I need to follow daily? Do I count calories? If so how many do I do a day? Do I need to join a weightloss program? Do I get a lot of Protein? How much? How much exercise? I'm trying to get all the homework done so when I come out of the surgery I'll know exactly what I need to do. I do not want to mess this up. I really want to optimize my weightloss.
  25. Hi everyone! My name is Lindsey and I'm going to be getting banded soon. Actually my surgery is over my spring break. It's 3/11/2011. Let's see I've had weight issues my entire life, I'm sure you all how the diet roller coaster goes. I was a frequent flyer... I'm now up to the highest I've ever been which is around 320. I will post my actual recorded date on 2/23/2011 when we weigh me for the pre-op diet. My story of why I'm getting the band is really sweet. My father was a quadraplegic and from that became very ill about 3 years ago. He recently passed away, in October of 2010. I miss him very much but he left me a gift I didn't know about until about 2 weeks ago. He had left in his will that I could have 20,000 dollars to put towards this surgery in order to get my lapband. Because my insurance has denied me about 3 times now. My Dad was amazing, really and I really hope this lapband gives me a chance at a new and healthy...life. Well thanks everyone, I really look forward to reading posts here and joining this community.
