Hero worship...

Recommended Posts

Posted this in another thread...but this one is busier, so maybe it will get some responses!

I haven't seen this topic before, and I really need to talk to someone about this. I am an active member on the board, but had to use another name to ask this, as I have my surgeon's name in my tag (and I gave him this site just last week to add to his research tools)!

I have developed this really strong crush on my surgeon! I

I am sure that this hero worship (for changing my life), along with his confidence and openness makes me almost giggly in his presence. It doesn't hurt that he is sexy and good looking! I mean, I kind of like it, but I don't want to get too distracted (my very otherwise supportive husband will not be amused if he figures it out, I am sure). On the PRO side is that It is definately an additional motivator for me - I was his first patient and I really want to be successful for him, as well as for me of course.....

Help! My best friend is starting to kid that I want to be his next 'trophy' wife, after I meet my goal!

Who else has exprienced this and how long after surgery did it last???

Haha I haven't, but my surgeon is pretty cute too ;) I don't think there is anything wrong, unless it's interfering with your life.

Perhaps it's just my age but over the decades I've watched marriages break up because of a 'crush'. Even in the cases where there's no possibility of the other person reciprocating. I've counseled people who divorced spouses because after a time, the daydream they built up in their head over this 'crush' made them hypercritical and dissatisfied with their spouse.

My .02...crushes are for teens or even unmarrieds. For the those of us who are married, turn our thoughts back to our spouse. In the long run, it's far more emotionally profitable. :)

My surgeon is 33 and gorgeous. If I wasn't married I'd definitely have a crush on him! lol

I think that when we go through something emotional, or really personal to us, that we can develope a "crush" on the person who helps us through it, or to be successful, especially when you spend time with this person and even yourself emotionally. Weightloss journey's are like that, personal and emotional, or at least mine is. Be careful of wrapping yourself up emotionally with your doctor. Remember, your are his patient, one among many. Crushes can make us feel good and motivate us, but don't let it become anything more. You need to be successful for yourself, not your surgeon.

Hmmm....I like my dr. too, but now that I think about him seeing me at my worst (and my insides), that takes care of that visual!

I think it is pretty normal, but if it gets too much, you need to do something about it.

The whole "seen me naked" thing made me laugh b/c when I got on the operating table, I suddenly realized that EVERYTHING would be hanging out. My last thought before going out was "$hit, I should have shaved". (I don't know how I thought they were going to operate if it wasn't ALL hanging out.)

 you know Kalipso this almost did it for me both with my cute general surgeon (the one who first told me I had cancer) and my cute bariatric surgeon... funny the nakedness, no makeup, major bedhead look didn't bother me when I was in the moment...

There are pros and cons to my thinking when it comes to crushing on my surgeons... I also work in the medical field... mental health

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
