First Fill

Recommended Posts

Hey all :)

I had my surgery December 20th after a 2 week pre-op diet. I am currently down 46 pounds which I could not be happier about, especially because I havent had a fill yet.

Tuesday I go in for my first fill and my question is a simple one, does it hurt??? I am super nervous and would rather be prepared if it is going to hurt.

Thanks!

Mar

I had my first fill on Monday of this week. I did not hurt at all! They deaden the area where they are going to inject the saline. It is really quick and I tried not to look at the needle. My problem was that I was overfilled. So after lots of pain and vomiting, I was back in the doctor's office. The unfill wasn't painful either. I feel much better now. My advice: Don't leave the doctor's office if you feel strange at all. I didn't listen to my body enough. Good luck!

No pain, I didn't get numbed or anything. It was just really awkward getting a needle in your stomach. My doc did a fluro fill, so he can see how easily stuff goes down. The whole experience just creeped me out, but no pain or anything.

I was banded on 12/30 and I went in for my first fill 1/26.

I don't want to be a negative Nellie here, just being honest. My fill was painful! I didn't get any numbing meds at all. It was very quick, but the poke hurt like the dickens!

I was expecting something similar or a little more than a blood draw, little poke, little pressure, but holy cow!! Maybe it was because my incision is only 28 days old, but that needle felt like a meat thermometer! ....just sayin'

I mentioned this at my support group last night and all the healed up bandsters told me that it was indeed because of the fresh incision that it was painful.

Maybe next time I'll be more prepared for what it actually is.

My band was in October - but my first fill was in January due ti the holidays. I have had 2 fills -, 3 cc and 2 cc. No real pain, nothing to minimixe the experience. Just a very small needle prick in the incision area. I have had 2 fills and still feel no restrictions. I can eat a head of lettuce - so I know there is more then 2-3 oz. of space there to fill.

Hoping the next fill will help me get to the 'green zone'

Cruising on my pre-op diet, and looking forward to more weith loss.

Hang in there / ignore the 'prick'.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
