Don't be overwhelmed, it's important that you work with your Dr's office. First step is find out what your insurances requires. Then you want to work with the Dr in order to complete the required Pre-op tests, psyh evaluation and work with a nutritionist. Also you have to attend a seminar about weight loss surgery. Best of luck to you keep me posted:)

Hi I'm new also I have an apt tomorrow with the nutritionist. I have already been cleared by my own Psychologist I have bipolar disorder and they wanted his consent being I have an established Dr. I got my blood work done this morning and have my sleep study Thur night. My first apt with "True Results" was 1/11/11 and have been told I can expect to have surgery in early March. I've read that lots of people have to wait six months I have not been told that. I guess I should call my insurance co tomorrow to find out for sure. I also did not attend a seminar. I'm very happy to have found this forum. Thanks to all

Carol

I am new to this process as well. I have so many questions regarding the insurance part of it, but have found so many online resources as far as what to expect from the testing, pro-op and post operative parts.

I have UHC PPO and cant find any info regarding coverage...

hello, I was banded jan. 7, 2011..... My 1st visit to doctor was 1st wk in Oct. and I was approved within 10 days! I was so overwelmed and thought wow i must relly need it... lol ! As I spoke to staff at doctors office I realized time of approval is based on insurance. If you are wondering how long it would take for approval speak with insurance person at doctor's office. I waited until jan because I had to give notice at work to take leave. Good Luck!

I am new to the program also. Don't feel bad I am overwhelmed also, I have gone to the 1st seminar and had my first visit with my doctor, blood work and EKG done. I have an appointment on the 2nd of February to fo to class with the nutrionist and meet the pschlogist. I didn't realize that it was so many things that had to be done. Maybe we can go through this together and support one another. I m wondering what this sleep study is about. I love my doctor and his staff but I just want this to be closer to my new life. I'll keep you posed and you do the same.

Hi - I also have UHC PPO through my employer and I was approved for lap band on 1/14/2011 - took about 5-6 weeks from beginning to approval. i'm now working with the surgeon to establish a suitable date, hoping for early February.

. My wife was also approved and had the procedure on 12/15/2010. Her path was similar to mine, but she started in mid-October

Thank you to everyone for your help! I've done bloodwork to rule out thyroid problems & am waiting on those results. I have contacted my insurance company & the procedure will be covered at 100%! I have scheduled to go to the seminar in 2 weeks so according to what you all are saying I'm on the right path! I guess the only thing I'm worried about now is the waiting part! I'm impatient! ;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
