  1. I'm 52 years old. I'm scheduled for the lap band procedure on February 9, 2011. I'm now on week 2 of the pre-op diet, it was a struggle the first 2-3 days, but it hasn't seemed too bad since. My wife had the procedure on 12/15/2010 and she has lost just over 30 pounds. She has done extremely well, no complications and no pain. She has had one fill and was supposed to have the 2nd today, but the doctor's office was closed due to the extreme weather we're having in North Texas. We live in Saginaw, TX.
  2. I'm a type II diabetic - I had a similar concern with lows. My doctor recommended that I drink low-fat milk. The sugar content is fairly high, but so is the Protein content.
  3. Just finishing up day 3 of 14 pre-op diet. I'm allowed 2 shake meals, 1 Soup meal per day. Also, I can have coffee, tea, juice, low-fat cottage cheese, sugar free Jello, sugar free pudding, and low-fat yogurt. The worst part for me is all the sweetness - shakes, jello, pudding...yogurt. I'd like to have more salty or hot spicy flavors. I have been drinking a can of spicy V-8 while eating cottage cheese at mid-day. That provides some satisfaction. Going to make it though!
  4. Hi - I also have UHC PPO through my employer and I was approved for lap band on 1/14/2011 - took about 5-6 weeks from beginning to approval. i'm now working with the surgeon to establish a suitable date, hoping for early February. . My wife was also approved and had the procedure on 12/15/2010. Her path was similar to mine, but she started in mid-October
