OTC Sleeping Pills

Recommended Posts

I've always had a really hard time sleeping. It's mostly related to an anxiety issue (which I work with a therapist for). I've tried prescription drugs for sleep issues in the past but I hated how groggy they made me feel in the morning. I've tried Simply Sleep type of pills and they don't really work for me. Does anyone have any recommendations for over-the-counter sleeping pills that are safe for a bandster to take?

Have you ever tried Magnesium? It helps with a lot of issues (try http://www.mgwater.com/benes.shtml) .At my health food store I buy a product called "Calm" which is a powder magnesium that you add Water to and drink it. It really helps with a number of things. I also take Benadryl to help me sleep but I think it is similar to Simply Sleep which you stated did not work for you. Best of luck in finding the help you need.

I have had sleep issues for at least 13 years and have experimented with just about everything on the OTC and prescription market. I hate the feeling I have from prescription and the cost so i quit those a longtime ago. I have always used a variety of things and never the same one for any length of time. The OTC Tylenol PM, Advil PM and Excedrine PM are all basically the same but have different amounts of the active ingredient. So I just buy a medium size bottle of one and then when Im finished with that bottle I switch to another brand. Never buying the giant bottle and never the same two in a row. I also rotate Melatonin (spelling) and OTC herbal it works pretty good. However on the upside, since I have had the band, I have not had near the issues that I use to have and find that I am rarely needing to take anything...I'm not sure why that is but I am happy.

Hope this helps!

I take Melatonin. I was taking Ambien for years b ut when I got into a car accident and don't remember it, I decided to start an OTC pill. In fact, I just ordered 6 bottles (buy 1 get 1 free) from Swanson Vitamins online for $21.00 and they're 10mg tablets - which you can't find in stores. I think it works great. Good luck to you!

I haven't taken any post op, but I always would take simply sleep or whatever at the grocery store. Shouldn't have any problems taking pills after a couple of weeks.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
