New Year, New You Challenge 2011

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!

It's my first weigh-in on the challenge since I just had my surgery four days ago - on Wednesday. On Thursday, I don't think I would have said it was worth it, but things have been improving steadily since then AND I have lost 11 pounds since the pre-op diet began!! rolleyes.gifMy goal for January was to reach 198 pounds and I'm now at 199. So I'm feeling very good about the whole thing. Can't get back to exercising yet but when I do I will take your good advice, Va_Vi, and change things up a bit each week. It's so easy to get into a rut and a routine.

I'm not as hungry as I thought I would be. I'm still eating just fluids, clear and full, and I find that I am feeling full after a very small amount of food. Let's hope it stays this way.

Good luck to everyone this week!

Good Morning! I am happy to see that everyone was succesful this week who has posted their weight! I on the other hand was not. : (

Joan 219.0

Hello all! I hope everyone had a great week. One week to go for our January challenge. It's been challenging to say the least but I think we're all going to do great!

I wanted to post a challenge for us (since some of you have done so in the past). I went to my monthly support meeting this past Monday and it was all about physical activity. There was a personal trainer and yoga instructor there showing us chair exercises. It was awesome. The personal trainer said something that really stuck with me and I thought that it would be a good "challenge" for us for this week. She said that it was important to change up our exercise routines every so often (like adding a class a week) to keep our bodies burning as much fat as possible.

So here's the challenge...change up your exercise routine at least once a week. If you walk daily - add a bike ride, if you go to the gym - add a class, if you swim - add a Water aerobics class. I did it this week and I have noticed a difference in my weight loss. I know today is not our weigh in day so I won't post my loss yet but for the first time in 3 weeks I have a LOSS. :-D If you would like to add a class to your routine I HIGHLY recommend taking a zumba class, you won't be disappointed. It's super fun and I've been told that you can lose up to 900 calories in an hour. I LOVE zumba and I know you will too. Most gyms offer the class or you can just go on zumba.com and search for one near you.

Good luck and let me know what you guys think about the challenge. :)

What a great idea! I will change up my routine this week. Thanks for the suggestion!

Checking in at 268! No loss but no gain and I'm glad because it is now my time of the month. I decided to weigh myself just out of curiosity. Congrats to everyone!! I go in for a fill next Monday. I need one bad! I've got a 14 cc band and I'm at 8.1 cc's and I have very little restriction. My goal for this week is stepping away from the liquids during meals. I think if I set an exercise goal I set myself up for failure so I'm going in a different direction this week to see how things go. Keep numbers coming!!

Hello everyone. Chloe weighing in today at 204.8. down 3.6lbs from last week!!!

Also, a MAJOR mental milestone for me....for the first time in better than 5 years, I weigh less than my husband! yippee laugh.gif

Starting to add more exercise - I Zumba'd for the first time last week & went to a strength training class over the weekend. Loved them both!

Hey Everyone -

Today I'm at 196.4. I'm glad for a loss, but this weekend was pretty bad as far as eating (totally ate WAY too much of all the wrong things), so I'm not surprised that I only lost .6 of a pound. Oh well. Hoping for a bigger loss next week in order to make my January goal of 193.6.

So...

Good job! My fill was a breeze. It was less discomfort than an IV stick or blood draw.

Hope everyone is having a good day. I need to make it to the gym this PM.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
