Day 2 of No Smoking in Surgery Prep

Well I'm on day 2 of no smoking in preparation for my surgery. I have 1 "supervised diet" appointment, my pysch evaluation left and then approval so I figure I'd better quit now! It's going ok just a horrible withdrawal headache. I'm using the patch so the cravings aren't too bad. I figure I've come this far with this process that I should do all I can to make the surgery go as well as possible!

Good Luck! I know this is super hard. It may help you to count the days every morning that you have not had a cigarette. It will remind you how much effort you've already put into this project. Ever notice recovering addicts can tell you to the day how long they've been clean/sober?

May I suggest that if you are using the patch that it is unlikely your headache is a physical withdrawal symptom? I used the patch and was successful for about a year. Then I used hypnosis and it worked like a charm - zero cravings. Been smoke free since April 2009!

You can do this!
