One week post op appt

Recommended Posts

Well I had my one week post op appt today and I'm down......11 pounds! Wahoo! This may not sound like a lot to some of you but it's amazing to me! He still has me on a full liquid diet for another week then I get to move to puréed foods then to soft. I see him again in 5 weeks. After hating this thing for the first few days I think this band and I are going to be bff!

Hi Amber, I am 5 days out. I haaven't weighedmyself. I am seeing my doc for post op on jan 4, he is probably away. What are you eating/drinking? I have only had Pure Protein choc drrinks, Jello, and ice pops besides tea and Water. I am in Stage 2 of diet. Have you tried cream of wheat or farina? Sometimes I do get hungry....and I think I am taking too big of sips. perhaps gulping....I am still bloated from surgery - i think. When do get rid of blaoted feeling? Tomorrow I am getting on my tread mill since we have a snow storm here. Good luck. Lizzzz

Hi Lizzzz, I had my surgery a week ago and the gas pains are gone but I have modest swelling still. Also having a hard time going to the bathroom. Are you allowed Soups? That might shake things up and help with hunger.

I am 1 wk post op today and am down 8.9 lbs according to my scale. I see my surgeon on Jan. 3 for a post of visit. I'm on stage 2 of the diet and am able to have some pureed fruits, sf Jello, ice pops, crystal light, yogurt, broths and Protein shakes.. I am still swollen some and I still have some pain at the port site.. the incisions are all doing well no problems there and I think the gas pains have finally eased up. I'm also having trouble going to the restroom, I was told to take Dulcolax.. I've taken it a couple of times but it hasn't really helped much. I've noticed when I put on a pair of jeans they fit fine, but after wearing them for about an hour I have to unbutton them because they become tight and uncomfortable... i have no idea what's going on except that I could possible still be swollen some??

Congratulations! You're all doing great! I am a little over 3 months post op, and I can tell you the swelling persists for a while. I think mine lasted about a month, then one day it was gone. As for going to the bathroom, that won't regulate until you're eating regular foods again and getting some Fiber in your diet. I was so used to going a couple times a day, I thought I was dying. But it is perfectly normal for the stages you're in right now. However, I will say that I only go every couple of days now. Like it or not, that's my new normal.

You're all doing fantastic. It only gets better from here, Ladies! :D

Congratulations to all of you for your successful first week!!! I don't feel much different at this point but I will do my best. Today I did 1.2 miles on the treadmill, as I promised myself. Tomorrow I hope to do the same. I read tonight that we can also eat Wendy's chili or a baked potato there when we are on soft foods. I appreciate some normalcy when we dine out even though I haven't been to Wendys in years. I also was told egg drop Soup was good. I have been sleeping on my side (both of them) finally without too much discomfort. Good luck to all !

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
