I need to do this all on my own..

Recommended Posts

I need to do this all on my own meaning if I want to be and eat healthier, I have to buy my own food now. So yesturday, I told my mom I'm getting microdermals and she said "You should put that towards your diet" and I asked "What diet?" she says "Exactly" so after my birthday, I'm buying my own food, but I'm only going to buy a weeks worth at a time. It really sucks but I guess I got to Start somewhere and sometime. It seriously sucks that she isn't going to do this with me, so I'm all alone in this house. So can you guys help me out? Can you make a list of things that I should avoid and things I should definitely get that will help me get to my goal? My brother taught me something for how many cals you should eat a day, this is; take the goal weight you want to reach, mine is 150 and all you have to do is add another 0 on it, so 1500 a day. Or with my age or weight should I eat less?

Eat 3 meals a day

2 Small & healthy Snacks

Drink tall glass of Water 30min before each meal..8 tall glasses a day

I also need workouts that I can do in the comfort of my bedroom, lunges really kill my knees

I can never seem to find any good workouts, I need full body ones

Grocery List

*How many fruits a day?

*How many veggies a day?

*How many and what kinds of grains(whole grains I know)

And I already get fat free/skim milk

*Things to avoid

*I'll be buying Poland Spring Water cause I feel like it has a good taste to it eventhough water doesn't have a taste lol

Just basically things I need for a successful weight loss

Workouts For the Comfort of Your Own Room

I don't like working out infront of people and I know most of you people don't either, so, what do you do for workout in your own room that has and is getting you to goal? I have a tredmill downstairs so I can do that everyday till it gets warmer out, then I can walk outside, I just really need full body workouts and ones that work amazingly!

I'm so ready to be happy for once, I'm also so ready to be confident in myself. It's been way to long being stuck in this place and I'm done feeling depressed and stressed!! I am ready to turn some heads, especially the guys! lol

Thanks for everyone's help,

Sorry I didn't reply back to my other post

Erin,

I'm sorry to hear that your mum isn't taking on a healthy lifestyle change with you, but honestly it's not such a bad thing being in control over your own diet. You can learn to choose and eat the right foods for you, and these will be life-long lessons.

Now I'm not going to try to advise you on calories simply because I never counted them myself and as far as food goes, I ate whatever I cooked for my family, and being Asian, I guess stir fries were a good healthy meal most times. I used common sense, tried to eat whole foods whenever I could, and stopped before I was full.

As for exercise, I used an exercise bike but a treadmill is just as good. You need a combo of aerobic exercise and weight resistance training, and to be honest, if you want to do it in the comfort of your own home, a kettle bell, a resistance band and a gym ball is a great, cost effective way to start. Trust me, you can get a whole body work-out with just those three things.

And finally, good luck. You sound positive and ready for a change! I wish you all the best!

It's okay, and I bet it isn't maybe she'll see that I'm doing it and see results, she'll jump in.

Yeah, calorie counting isn't my thing either, what I would probably do is get all my food like ready for the week so i know exactly how much is in my meals a day.

i want an exercise bike so bad. I know, I have a exercise ball, two 2pound(i believe) weight balls, 3 resistance band, one is light, and two is medium i think, and two 5 pound weights, i'll most likely buy a kettle bell next month.

Thanks!(:

You are young, just turn on some music and dance for 45 minutes you will see the weight just drop off. Dance however you want no one will see you! Do it twice a day double the loss maybe. Just keep moving.

I don't want to be a wet blanket but you need to do this for yourself. Hoping your mother will want to start excercising or eat better is setting your self up for disappointment. Dancing is a great way to excersise and burn calories! If you have knee issues that could be difficult. Definately make use of the treadmill. Staying motivated while exercising is BIG. If you have an MP3 player (or even portable CD player showing my age here) that will make the treadmill so much better! Could you put a Tv in front of the treadmill? Even an old school one from a thrift store would be better than nothing. Personally I swim. Once in the Water no one can see me anyway! Last night I bought a regular swimsuit instead of one with a skirt. I'll see how that goes. Anyway. For lap swimming I use a snorkle and connect a water proof MP3 player to the goggles. I chose swimming becuase I have a bad knee problem and needed to loose weight. I lost 80 pounds presurgery from dieting and swimming.

Thanks guys!

I wanna get that Zumba game, either for Wii or Kinect if i get it

I am going to be doing this for myself, it would be a lot easier if everyone in the house could just be a little more sapportive and eats healthier too.

I am planning on making a workout mix. My friend told me to play some hardcore metal or techno music, anything that makes your body move to the beat

Yup, i can put the treadmill infront of the tv, makes time fly by faster, got to find a way to see past the drums tho lol

I wish we had an indoor swimming pool cause i'd be in it everyday and itd be so much easier on my knees but dancing, treadmill and what lellow said, would most likely be good for me and in the summer i can go swimming. and congrats on the 80 pounds lost!

Thanks. Do you have health insurance? Many policies will help pay for part of gym memberships as long as you can prove that you are actually going. Every January at my gym people start asking for a print out of all their visits from the previous year. Also If you have a YMCA/YWCA near by their prices are usually pretty good. When I lived in the Metro Boston area I went to the Quincy Y which was like $30 a month. When I changed to a private gym closer to home my monthly gym costs rose to $64.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
