Banded 11/30/10

Recommended Posts

I was banded yesterday with a hernia repair and I feel like crap! I have tons of gas pain in which walking still has not relieved. I have no appetitite (which I don't mind) but I'm so uncomfortable in every position....whether I sit or lay down. Any suggestions??

I had my surgery last Tuesday and when I woke up there was so much pressure in my shoulder. My nurse told me that the sooner I got up and started walking the pressure would decrease. So as soon as I could I got up and walked even though it hurt. The gas pain did decrease. So I would suggest walking around if you can. When you get up press a pillow against your stomach to provide some support and make sure to swing your legs over first.

Hope you feel better.

my suggestion is.... if your doc gave you pain meds TAKE THEM as prescribed whether you need it or not.

Hi I wasa banded on Monday. I had terrible gas pains. I thought I was going to die...Just move and walk. if you try to lay on your left side and put pillows under your left arm, it might help a little. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you everyone! Everyone's advice really helped. Today, I was able to actually drink 1 cup of chicken broth and eat 1 SF popsicle. I've been walking every hour for 5-10 minutes and I'm feeling much better. The main area of pain I am having is where my port is located. I finally got on the scale to welcome the surprise of being down a total of 14 pounds (3 down since surgery day). I'm so excited for the future!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
