10 days till surgery and counting

Recommended Posts

Surgery Date booked and paid for 10th December - yeah just before Christmas, i'm self destructive. I will be on small portions by then i hope unsure.gif

BMI 35 - I strive to be a comfortable size 10-12 cool.gif

Optifast Diet 2 weeks before op - Im struggling! I have lived off this 'eating anything and everything because next week i wont be able to' mentality that now i've hit a wall.

Im currently 5 days into Optifast and im doing ok. I have cheated with a tiny chip here or a sneaky lollie there but otherwise i have been dedicated to 3 shakes a day and a salad.

Im curious to find out if others have cheated like this and if it effected their outcome!

Im starting to get the bad breath thing so im taking that as a good sign that im doing well with Optifast wink.gif

Happy to chat anyone in a similar position.

Welcome!

I wouldn't worry about a tiny cheat on your pro-op diet. What they want is to shrink some of that belly fat, esp. around the liver, so that it's easier to work on you during the surgery. Do the very best you can. I wasn't put on any pro-op diet at all at 230 lbs. so I was lucky.

Don't worry about your Christmas being spoiled by your new diet. I had my surgery right before Christmas too and things taste better when you know you can only have a tiny bit. A whole lot of something doesn't even have a taste after a while...

A new Year a new you!

Good luck on your journey!

FIVE more days till my surgery biggrin.gif

i am now very comfortable on the Optifast diet pre op, it gets easier and easier as the days go on.

It has been easy when i can sleep in and almost miss a whole meal. But when i get back to work tomorrow i'll be working 12.5 hour shifts and thats when keeping myself occupied with things other than eating gets hard.

i dont know whats more exciting, counting down till Christmas or counting down till surgery wink.gif

all i know is, its not long now till both!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
