BMI 35.7 and I want to lose 80lbs how long am I looking at?

The general rule is 1-2 pounds per week. There are so many things that could make the weightloss go faster or slower. For example not having proper restriction, drinking alchol and eating high cal foods will make it go slow.

please help me anybody that knows!!

My BMI was around 35 when I had surgery on May 5, 2010. My pre-surgery weight was 212. Now today Oct. 19, 2010 I weigh 148. So, 64lbs in less than 6 months is TOTALLY worth it!! I have been very stict with myself about getting fills regularly and to the max everytime. I have eat "treats" and I haven't been to the gym as much as I would like, but despite that, I have still been successful having this awesome tool!!

Shrink- so you think fills are a huge part? I ask bc I got banded Oct 1st@202 and I'm down to 192.. I figured bc of my lower BMI my loss would be slower. I just started mixing in mushies w/ my liquids this week.. I'm scheduled for my first fill on friday however, I'm not overeating or getting hungry so I think I should wait another week.. with your experience would you suggest I get one this soon? ( According to your timeline you waited a month)

I absolutely think that fills are a huge part. I have family members who have been banded and still love to eat, so they aren't as eager to get regular fills and their weight loss shows it! They are happy to be losing slowly and still be able to eat pretty much what they want. Me, well I wanted to work this tool to the max. I never wait until I feel hungry to get my fills because that can slow down progress if I am tempted to over indulge. I go by how my body feels when I eat. If I start feeling like I am eating more than I previously could, then it's time for my fill, I don't wait for hunger pains...I never want to feel those again! Since I started with a lower BMI I thought my loss would go slower too, but I have been happily shocked at how quickly it has come off. I am now down to a size 4-6 pants! I never thought I would see that day again, lol. My doc was willing to do a fill after 1 month so I jumped on it. Many docs won't do them so soon. Did Dr. Kirshembaum do your surgery? I would definitely go ahead with the fill, they will make sure you aren't too tight. Right now you are still filling full because you most likely have some of the normal swelling that goes along with the surgery. BUT, as soon as that swelling goes down, you will feel it. So, I didn't wait. As I said before, I don't want to feel hunger pains ever again! Dr. Kirshenbaum has been very pleased with my progress and last time said, " Angela, you are a poster child for lapband. I should stand you at my front door to greet all my patients." So, I guess that means I am doing something right?:wink2: Let me know if you have any other questions.

I started out with approximately 85 pounds to lose, was banded in March. I am definitely NOT a poster child for lapbands, but I am slowly losing weight, about a pound a week which contents me perfectly as long as it keeps up. I am down 44 pounds in seven and a half months.

44 pounds is AWESOME in such a little time! Think if you were doing it all on your own...how much more difficult it would be! Keep up the good work. As long as you are content, that is what matters most :wink2:

Congrats Angela! Well I have an appt tom for my first fill tom and it's been 20 days since surgery.. I just don't know if I should do it or wait another week.. As I've started integrating mushies I have noticed I am getting hungry again.. vs. just being on pure liquids.. and now I was with Dr.Owens. ..

Another question.. what's your height and daily calories consumed?

I had 71lbs to lose, banded May 3rd 2010 and I am down 48lbs which is great for me. I have only had 3fills so far. The last time I went to the dr. was beginning of Oct and he would not give me another b/c I am losing the 2lbs a week. Right now I have hit a wall but with lots of hard work and going harder with the exercise I will get over it!!!!!! Good luck.

Well in the very beginning I was doing 3x a week at the gym for like 30 minutes, the past few months I have been doing a little over an hour a day for either 4 or 5 times a week. I usually do the treadmill and have the incline all the way up to 9 or 10 and at like 4.1 for the majority of the time. I try to keep my calories around 1000 but some days that is kind of difficult and I go above. The past two weeks though I have been gaining and taking off the same 2lbs. which is annoying but I will get past that. All I know is I love going to the gym it is now a habit and I feel so guilty when I don't go!!!!!!! I CAN HONESTLY SAY I LOVE MY BAND!!!

My Dr wouldn't even think of giving me a fill until 6 weeks out and then because I had lost more than a average of 2 pounds/week he still didn't give me one. I had surgery June 29, 2010 first fill, and only fill to date, was August 3.6 cc and at 4 months after sugery I have lost 65 pounds. My BMI was quite a bit more than yours so I think these first 65 have come off fast... hoping to keep up at this pace! Good Luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
