Don't know how to handle this!!!!

Recommended Posts

So, my wonderful boyfriend has started expressing concerns that i'm gonna get all skinny and then leave him. We have a LDR so that makes it a little harder. He is also 11 years older than me. These are issues for him mostly, I have no issues with either. altho I would love for him to move back here since his whole family lives less than two hours from me. anyway, I am not sure how to address this. I know they are his insecurities but I love him, have no intentions on leaving him, in fact just the opposite. the first thing i thought of when i got the approval from my ins for the surgery was wooohoooo I can wear a pretty wedding dress! Of course we arent exactly engaged yet but we have talked about it and I am sure it is in our future. He is the man i want to marry.

Help!!! Any advice?????????????????? Please and thank you!

My hubby had the same insecurities. I had to remind him I wasn't doing this for him or any other man for that matter. I was doing this "ALL FOR ME". I have had to stroke his Ego along the way to remind him I'm not going anywhere. Getting my hubby involved in my caretaking (prepping meals and such) and excercising with me really helped keep him involved on the frontline...which in the end has brought us that much closer. He feels a sense of accomplishment knowing he has been right by my side the entire time. All men are different, but finding a way to make him a part of your journey might help.

It sounds to me like you have a long distance relationship. I think that is your big problem right there. Is he concerned that once you loose weight other men will be interested; and since he is not around to fend them off someone will "steal" you away? Sounds like you feel this relationship is leading to marriage. If that is really true than you can't live hours apart. Don't let the loosing weight thing cover the really big problem of living far apart.

I agree with involving him as much as possible in the whole process.I find that my hubby is way more "protective" of me, he's never really shown insecurities, but I stroke his ego, too, by doing little things like pretend I'm a little jealous when I'm not at all (lol is this bad?). Best of luck to you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
