Yes,

I was 18 years old when I had it done. One of the youngest in my region five years ago. I have had my ups and downs but it has been a fun roller coaster. I have lost 155 lbs and kept it off.

Chelsea,

I was very luck in my experience. My mom's friend recommended me to the surgery center. From start to finish it took about a month from knowing nothing to getting approved. I had to meet with a psychologst, nutritionist, and go to support group like once or twice. It might seem a lot but it is worth it in the end. No problem about asking questions. This is why I am here, I want to share my knowledge of being banded and help other banders around my age especially.

Hello Everyone! I am new and I have my consultation scheduled on 10/15, I already got my referral from my pcp, so I am still very much in the beginning stages. My question is for those of you that have lost over 100lbs, did any of you get alot of excess skin because I heard that the younger you are when you lose weight the less excess skin you'll have. I'm 24 and that has to be the thing that scares me the most other than the actual surgery because plastic surgery is a hell of alot of money..lol. Thanks!

The younger the patient the better the patient can tighten their skin up. I have lost 155 lbs and my skin only looks bad in the tummy region. The rest of places can be fixed by toning up after you lose a lot of weight.

Hi! My name is Janelle and I have just started on the journey to get my Band. I am extremely excited but also scared haha. I've researched the heck out of the Band from the medical standpoint but I know I will need someone to speak to about daily life with the Band.

Hello everyone, my name is Casey. I'm 23 years old and I just got banded on Friday, December 17th. I'm still in a bit of pain in my shoulder, at my incision site, and it hurts those places when I breathe deeply (I am an asthmatic). Wondering if this is normal, and how long pain will last. I also have a random technical question. Why when I post in the forums does my picture not show up by my name? Anyone have any answers? Hope to talk to someone soon!

Hey Casey, welcome to the forums and to your new life with the band.

The pain is normal. It is due to swelling from the surgery. It should go away within a couple of days.

About your pic, I see it next to your username. Not sure why it's not showing up for you.

I was swore for about a week or so after the surgery then I felt awesome after the initial pain went away.

Glad to hear that from both of you, I tend to worry too much about things. Also when I'm eating I don't get that full feeling. I'm wondering if that's different for everyone too, and if I should expect to start feeling full after my first fill? I'm still definitely limiting my amount of food and have seen a weight change, I'm just wondering if there's something wrong?

Totally normal not to feel full now. Once you start getting fills you will start feeling the restriction.

Many people here report not feeling restricted well until their third fill. Until then you just need to try and use your self control to keep you on the right track.

Good luck, and remember that whatever you lose now is gone forever! That's always an encouraging thought.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
