Band adjustment question

Recommended Posts

I had surgery 8/25 and am schedule for my first adjustment 10/5. Lately, I have been feeling hungry between my "meals". I am eating what has been recommended (greek yogurt, soft eggs, mashed potatos, Soup, sugar free Jello, etc). Between the meals I am just sipping my Isopure juice or Protein Shake. My stomach actually starts to growl. Will that stop when I have my adjustment or will I always feel the hunger pains between meals?

Any suggestions/advice is welcome!

Tyna

Surgery Date: 8/25/10

Weight at surgery: 250

Current weight: 235

Goal Weight: 150

I was banded on 7/14 and a week later I was so hungry that I was nearly in tears because I couldn't eat solid foods to satisfy what I was feeling. This feeling/ stomach growling/ gnawing hunger pains, got better after my first fill, and waaaayyy better after my second one. :crying: I am at 4cc's in a 10cc band and I think that I will be in the sweet zone with just a little fill that I have scheduled next week. It does get better, which is good because after surgery I was really wondering if I had done the right thing!

That makes me feel so much better!!!! I was really scared that this hunger was going to be a forever thing. Dont get me wrong, when I have my "meals" and eat slowly like I am supposed to, I am full for a good amount of time, but before the next mealtime I start with the gnawing hunger. Thank you so much for your input!!! Two and a half weeks to go till fill. I can handle that!!! ; )

I have my first fill today, i feel nervous about it! I've been told it's nothing to sweat and I should be excited about getting restriction. I am excited about restriction, but i guess nervous since i've never had it done before!

It wasn't until about a week and a half ago that the hunger realllllllly set it! hunger pains and all! so i'm eager to get rid of those!

It shouldn't continue as that is how the band works - to keep you from feeling hungry with only a small amount of food. Right now what you are going through is quite normal - this is the healing period, later you can go to more normal foods and get a fill or fills until you reach the restriction where you can eat about a cup of (the proper) food and not feel hungry until the time of your next meal. Some people gain during the healing period because of the hunger and they keep eating more, others get some restriction earlier and everyone varies on how much needs to be added to the band to get to the right place for them. Some doctors add gradually and others will do larger amounts at one time. All in all be patient, it will work out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
