November bandsters unite!!

Recommended Posts

My date is November 19th in NJ. My doctor doesn't require a pre-op diet but it seems like a wise idea. I think I'll call tomorrow and ask why he doesn't.

I'm neervous and excited and just want the day to come already!

Good luck to everyone having the surgery this week!

Randee

It's so good to hear from the first few people banded this month... I get banded on Fri, the 5th, I have 1 more day to go and I am excited and scared at the same time. I have been on a clear liquid diet since yesterday, and I am about to climb the walls. I have tomorrow left of Clear Liquids and I took the day off to see if I can sleep my way through it so I don't have to drink another stinkin' cup of clear broth, popsicles or Jello. I have no idea how you guys that have to do it for 2 or 3 weeks prior, can handle it. Oh well... one more day and then I'll be having surgery at 8 am on Friday. Good luck to everyone, and I wish all a successful recovery.

Hey Everyone! Great to hear the good reports of those folks that have been banded already this month! I get banded on the 15th of November at 8am. I am on day 3 of this pre-op diet! I am going crazy and would love to have some real food. My diet is medi-fast except you can no have the lean and green meal. Its all Soups, pudding and shakes and honestly it doesnt taste good at all. I want to eat something so bad but dont want to blow it. I have twelve more days, I am so frustrated and hope my days fly by. Thanks for listening and good luck to everyone.

Hi AKessler731 we are being banded on the same day. My surgery time is 2:30 grrrrr! I start my 10 day liquid diet on sat but have been doing an abridged version the past 2 days, liquids all day and then I eat a normal supper. I figured this would be my belly in the mood for all liquids. Good luck!!!

So...the big day is tomorrow. I'm sitting here eating my SF cherry Jello and trying not to think about a cheeseburger. I am excited and nervous.

I was reading some old posts on this forum and if HOPEE is still reading and posting; GIRL, I have the exact same feelings. I'm self-pay and so worried that I'm going to screw this up. It would be different if insurance covered it. I would still be upset but not broke and upset!

Is anyone else here self-pay? Does anyone have similar concerns about long term motivation? I'm scared that the resolve or, lack there of, that I've had with every other diet will happen with the band.

Hospital check in at 6:30 a.m.!

Hey there me surgery is also the 15th at 10am. I'm on day 4 of shakes I only get shakes and Water not even broth. I also have to be on them for 2 weeks. Isn't it interesting that other don't have to be on shakes only or for just a couple of days. Hey, I posted a Nov. 15 banders thread if you want to check it out as well. Take care, good luck.

Hello everyone,

Hoping to find support. I have read all your stories and I'm very happy for all of you. I have been approved and scheduled for November 19th. Now I'm getting cold feet. My friends and family don't want me to get it. And I'm afraid how this is going to change my life. I'm a food addict and I have tried so many times to do it on my own but I always go back to my old habits and regain. I thought this will be my bes option because it would not let me go back. But I might miss going back to the old ways no soda, alcohol, fast food. Any of you have felt scared? Of all this and side effects as well?

Chic, welcome!! You are going to be fine! You have all the questions and worries that we all have or had. It is a huge decision to do this and will change your life. But it will change your life for the better. The Lap Band is a tool to help lose weight. It's not the end all answer. You'll have to make adjustments. But once you see you are losing weight, you will gain more confidence in knowing you made the right decision. Think of it as this decision will save your life! You can do it!!!

Day 4 of pre-op diet. Hard today!! I cheated a tad. I ate a few Veggie chips. My son had some and I am normally addicted to them!! I only had 8 of them, so I got it out of my system! Whew! On a good note, Soup for dinner and pudding for dessert!! YUM!!

This weekend I have to fly to FL for a baby shower. I do not know how I am going to make it through the shower with nothing to eat!! I'll have to sneak to the bathroom to drink my Protein shakes!! LOL!!

Deb, I'm heading over to the post-op side to check on ya! Hope you are doing well!

Hi everyone. I have my surgery date for 11/22. I'm a bit nervouse since i'll be doing it on the week of Thanksgiving but i'm ready. I've been wanting to get banded since last year. I changed my mind and decided to give myself a year of working out and dieting. I did lose 25lbs but it's starting to come back. I have struggled with weight all my life. Finally i decided to do it. Im super excited and nervouse all at the same time. :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
