Weight Loss/Reflux due to fill

Recommended Posts

Gents,

I was banded Aug 07. I have lost only about 40 from surgery, but I haven't gained any back which is good. I also had a year with almost no restriction. I have climbed aboard the fitness wagon yet again and I am making progress. My challenge with my AP-L band is that every time I got clost to good restriction (circa 9.7cc) I would develop BAD reflux and need to have an unfill. I tried meds, lifestyle modifications everything. No joy. So now I am wondering, if any of you have experienced the same thing. My hope is that If I can drop another 20 lbs or so, the reflux issue may not be as bad. Or am I just dreaming? I don't want to lose any of this great progress that I am making due to the hard work I have been doing in the gym. Also, when I do get closer to my goal weight I would like to have the band there to back me up and help me maintain. I welcome any thoughts and experiences.

Today is the 11th. NEVER FORGET

Fine tuning the band is very aggravating for some of us and living with reflux and heartburn is horrible. I lived that way for 4 months and finally got a very small unfill of 0.15 and in 2 days the reflux was almost gone and now 2 weeks later I am doing well with almost sweet spot restriction. I am on maintenance and am learning to balance my cals in and exercise out and w/o the band I would be sunk. I wish you the very best and hope after your next fill you will have your sweet spot. Congratulations on maintaining your 40 pound loss, that is nothing to sneeze at. I hope your care giver is capable of tiny unfills if you need it.

Mimi

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
