  1. 1. What will you do with your "fat" clothes after banding?

    • Keep them -- just in case....
    • Get rid of them once & for all!

HELLO!

This Thursday the PVA (Paralyzed Veterans of America) will come by to take a ton of things I'm donating... including a few boxes of clothes... it's very exciting to get it out of the house.

And I can't wait for the time (hopefully soon) when the clothes I'm wearing now will no longer fit, either!

Find a good organization or local church that may need the clothes... the money you get from selling it in a garage sell or to a thrift store isn't that much... and you have the hassle of haggling with the owner of the store... it's just more gratifying to give it to needy people... just my opinion!

Good luck to you! You'll do great! Just stay positive and never give up on yourself!

I send my clothes to a women's crisis center and over to a thrift shop run by the YWCA and works with the police. When we replaced some furniture, I took it over and asked it be earmarked for women who have been in what is called the "Butterfly Project". This was started by a beat officer who set it up to work with getting prostitutes off the streets. It sends them through a program where they get training and schooling for jobs which lasts for one year. (This is also for victims of domestic violence I believe.) After the year is over, they are then trained how to run a household for shopping, meal preparation, setting up a budget. There are houses all over the city where they live for free for a year. They are working and learning to pay their bills and how to save. They have accountability restrictions for spending and such. After the year, they take over the rent on the home. When they start into the program they are taken to this particular thrift shop where they can go through the clothes and furniture which have been specifically set aside for them. It is a great program for helping women and their children. They get the protection and anonymity for almost two years. I give my clothes while there is still life to them.

I was thinking about keeping some of my favorite pieces of clothes so I can go to a seamstress to get the clothes let in and give the rest of my clothes away. Will keep one pair of pants as a reminder of how far i've come and will never go back.

Well, I had 3 bags from my closet. One was for the church thrift shop,(better things). The other two was for the Salvation Army. Tuned out that we had a family that lost everything at our church, so...all donations went to the church who will give some to the family. I am happy that the woman will be able to wear my leftovers. She will get many things that I wore for 1 season, or not at all. I* am thankful for the chance to help someone in need. Karen(kll724).

As soon as I outgrow something, it's going to Goodwill. I hadn't thought about packing up my summer clothes, but there's no way I'll fit into them next year, so I might keep 1 or 2 outfits until I'm sure we won't get any warm here but the rest I'll donate.

Gave some to my friends and my daughter. Sold some at a yard sale. They sold pretty well. I hated my fat clothes and was so happy to see them go. I went down from 28's to 18's so far. I hope to get to size 12 or 14. I will never buy fat clothes again!! LOL

Good for you, I. also, hated my fat clothes. I have gone through my closet like 3-4x since staring on my journey. Some things had only been worn one time. But, I am sure that someone will put them to good use. You found that out when you had your yardsale. Congrats on your weight loss journey, best of luck to everyone! Karen(kll724)

I'll keep 1 of my biggest pants, and get rid of the rest. I haven't bought new clothes in ages as I've been meaning to lose weight and just couldn't stand the thought of spending money on clothes I wouldn't wear long... of course now most of those clothes are worn and look like crap so nobody else would want them. I'm getting rid of the fat clothes. Don't want anything comfy to fall back into. If I feel my jeans getting tight it doesn't mean I can grab a bigger pair from my closet!!!

I've given away some and donated everything else. I've kept a pair of jeans from every other size down and will take pics once I reach my goal. Yes, I'll get rid of them once I've taken a picture.

I've also had to get rid of shoes as my feet are now a size smaller.

To save $$$ - Accessories are the key (for me) as I buy 2 pairs of pants ($16 or less @ TJ Maxx) in my new size and layer tops and wear necklaces, scarves... to change things up. My co-workers seem to pay more attention to my accessories than the fact that I've worn a pair of pants twice w/n a week along with my single basic black skirt.

I sold some in a garage sale last weekend. The rest are bagged up for Goodwill. I am not keeping anything. Right now I am down to a couple of pair of shorts from the summer and 1 pair of jeans I just bought. Most of my shirts are the fitted tshirts - which fit me perfectly right now. I wear scrubs during the week and I am down to 3 pairs I am rotating thru. Hoping to get thru another month of them before purchasing more. I just dont want to spend the money on clothing I am not going to wear long.

Hi, I plan on renting a 18 wheeler and pilling my fat clothes especially the one's with food marks on the front on a dirt road and driving over them, back and forth till the threads disapear. I think that would make me feel real special. lol.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
