October 2010 Bandsters!!

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Oct 7 here.

I am reading a lot about all the appointments you all have to attend. I am in australia and here you see all the Drs and dietician on the same day. It does take about 4 hours but its so easy. I had no psychiatrist appointment and no plotting of diet and exercise. I dont understand why they make it so hard for you to get healthy.

Does every one in the states have to do these things before banding?

Banding will take place 10/2. I am on day 4 of Carnation Instant Breakfast and am doing OK. Whenever my hubbie is eating I take a "whiff' which I find somewhat helpful. It does help to have a good imagination!

My stress right now is work. I am on the schedule as FMLA and my co-workers are either worried or nosey about my absence since they keep asking me what the deal is. I am very private about this and have told 2 work friends only.

My boss has been distant and called me in on Monday to discuss my ability to "cope" and mentioned my FMLA 3 different times. My work performance is and always has been stellar. I feel picked on and think she is angry that I have not confided in her and am taking time off.

Help me sort this out please. I don't want to go into surgery stressed out:crying:

Bless you all!

Do I tell my sister about my surgery or not? She is a very negative person and had gastric bypass 5 years ago and still suffers from throwing up and is pretty miserable. I dont need any negativity around me and I want this to be a success!!! Help!

The only people that I'm telling is my mom, sis, her hubby, and my boyfriend...nobody else, and I have a large family. I just feel like my 3 brothers and their wifes don't need to know, and my dad has a big mouth. I want to be able to tell people that I know will be supportive and I don't want anyone's negative energy around me because this process is hard enough without there negativity around me.

If you don't want to tell her then don't. This is about you and your journey and you want to make sure that your process is as smooth as possible to solidify your success. Keeping it positive is important, plus you don't need that stress.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Hey people!

I am banded October the 6th... 10 more days. I am so excited. Already had my GI and pre op tests and now I am just a sitting duck.

VAViv - GI is pretty simple - the liquid they make you drink is like no taste liquid yogurt ( Barium ) It is a little bit minty. I asked if I could take some home - they didn't think so...

Anyway, add me as your friend - I would love to share my experiences with you and hear all about it from you...

Add me!

I'm getting well excited for my Banding on 27 October in Belgium. I tell anyone who stands still long enough about it. I'm going to have the Cambridge powder shakes and Soups from 1st October and try and come off my pepsi max slowly. I will lose weight on Cambridge then post op diet for couple of weeks so that will be a good weight loss start. Good luck everyone and keep us informed of your progress. Amazed!

Hi, I am due to be banded October 11th. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow and am really nervous about it. The no caffeine is going to kill me. I am a diet coke funkie. Very few people know that I am having this done and I want to keep it that way. Those that do know are very supportive and those are the ones you want on your team. Is anyone from the North Mississippi area?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
