when i woke up this morning , i was nauseated. I took some peligren. When i lay down, my side hurts and so does my shoulders. Takes my breath away when I lay down. I cannot eat at all. I am hungry and even tho i have not had a fill yet, i am unable to get down more than a couple of swallows and then i hurt. Is this normal or anybody else experience this? I wonder if i should be having Protein? I don't think my doc told me what to expect after surgery, if he did, I've lost the information. Will this get better? My stomach is growling and I think it is because I am hungry, not sure why I nauseatd this morning . Really need some support here and info. What has everybody else ate third day? thanks much. Sure am glad i found this site.

Sorry you're having a hard time but it sounds like you need good old tylenol right about now. You're 3 days out and you can expect to still have some soreness. Also, the shoulder pain is gas pain and it comes along with the ride.... I used Gas X strips and it helped alot with the gas pain. On day 3 I was on Clear Liquids and I wasn't hungry. But my mouth missed chewing and it missed the flavor of food. I can't speak like a real pro bcuz I was only banded one week ago. Hope this helps a little

3-4 days out were the worst for me as far as swelling. I woke up nauseous, hurting, and panic-stricken. I too couldn't lay flat on my back and it hurt to get out of bed but I kept on pushing through. Today I feel like brand new minus a couple of incisions on my belly :(

You just had surgery, so it is normal to feel a little nauseated, sore, and have the gas pains in strange places (like your shoulders). Did your surgeon prescribe anything for pain? Sometimes the narcotic pain meds can nauseate people, so maybe try taking liquid tylenol instead. Keep sipping small amounts of fluids and rest up. Your body needs rest to heal, but getting up and walking a little will help with the gas pains. I also used a heating pad on my back and it helped me greatly.

I have had a lot of hunger-like pangs since my surgery last Friday, and it is more intense than any hunger feeling I've ever had before. The last few days have been better though, so maybe it was gas rumbling through my stomach.

Try checking out GNC or a local health food store for products that are clear liquid, but contain whey isolate Protein in them. I have been using Isopure, which has 40 g of Protein per serving.

Best to you! You'll get through this. Take good care of yourself!!!

You may not feel normal, but your symptoms are normal, and something that we have all gone through.

I agree with everyone else, the swelling was terrible for me about that same time. The gas pain was horrible and I do mean horrible. I did not even notice any pain from the incisions, but the gas made me feel like I had an elephant sitting on my chest and shoulders.

It will get better and once it does, you will be happy with your decision.

Michelle

I was banded 8/16...i had the same symptoms as you. sugar free Popsicle's saved my life. lol. that what i lived on for 3 days. that and Isopure Protein Water. I still have the shoulder pain but it is manageable. I found by propping a pillow under my tummy i sleep pretty well.

Hi Mondaylady,

had surgery last Friday and im feeling much better now (todays a Thursday). The first 3 days after surgery was very uncomfortable for me, my stomach hurt, walking felt like i had a huge cement in my stomach, i couldnt eat a lot but i was hungry..i knew it was hunger because my stomach was growling.

but you will get better...tomorrow im already planning my first trip out of the apartment since last friday :(

i can walk better now, but i have to stop once in a while because the wounds still hurt a bit.

goodluck to us :tongue2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
