Hi WantingHealth!

I too am in Maryland and I went to Dr. Longs' seminar tonight. very informative and she seems like a great doctor. also seems like she's a no nonsense kind of gal which is nice. she's very personable in my opinion and I can't wait to get a consultation in with her

the seminar was at Holy Cross (which happens to be my preferred hospital choice)

the seminar is informative to the point where she will straight up tell folks that if you don't exercise and eat properly, you will not see results and she can't emphasize that enough. she will stay til every question is asked and no question is off limits for her.

for the consultation though she did tell us that there will be a fee of $450 which covers the time b/c they can be anywhere from 45 mins til an hour or more and it covers education and nutrition. she said she had to start it last year because folks would make appts, and then not show up so she had an open slot of an hour left with no patients to see so she said she needed to charge that fee

she basically accepts most insurances and she will tell you how long each has a period of waiting approval (like 3 or 6 months)

if ya need any support or just wanna chat, I'm here!

I'm calling tomorrow to schedule a consultation. good luck!

Thanks reverie for making me feel welcome.

Bry thank you for the information. It looks like we are starting our journy around the same time. Maybe down the line if we have questions we could ask each other. See you around the boards.

Hi there and welcome. I am from Maryland too but I had my surgery at GW Hospital in Washington, DC by Dr. Fred Brody. I am 3 1/2 years out and am feeling great.

Good luck to all of you guys. We should plan a Maryland lapband get together sometime.

If you have any questions or anything, don't hesitate to ask and I'll do my best to answer them for you. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
