What is the smallest fill possible?

Recommended Posts

Hello All-

I am looking for some advice or someone who has some experience with this. I was banded a little over 2 years ago and have lost 80 pounds. I have been doing well up to now with little problems. My last fill of 1 mL, almost 2 months ago, was too much (7 mL in a 10mL band) and I had reflux, pbing, difficulty eating almost anything no matter how small or well chewed (except for the slider foods - ice cream, cream Soups, etc) that got worse and worse as time went on. I ended up dehydrated and having 1 mL taken out. So, I am back where I was before the last fill. This level is great for eating- it keeps me in line in that I stop eating when I am full, but, I can eat what I consider too much. As I did for the 6 months before getting the last fill - I will not loose - just stay the same. Now, this is great because I have some vacation time coming (finally) at the end of September and then for the first two weeks of December and I would like to be able to eat on vacation....BUT...I would also like to not gain weight and to maybe even keep loosing a bit...

Sooooo- my question is - can I get like a .25 mL or .5 mL fill - is it possible to get a quarter of a cc? I think that might be the perfect balance for now and then get another .25 or .5 at the New Year...

Thoughts? Opinions?? Assistance? Anyone ever got a .25 mL fill? I do not want to lose progress as I feel really good about my weight now.

Thanks all!:smile2:

I've had a couple of 0.5mL fills, and an 0.1mL fill. The 0.1mL was perfect for getting me just a touch tighter when I was so close to my sweet spot.

My surgeon doesn't always tell me the exact amount of a fill, but I know that I have had fills and unfills of less than 1cc. When they explained it initially, they said they do 1cc at a time the first couple of fills, then start to do .5cc for another couple of fills and then .25cc until the proper restriction is reached. I think they also judge the amount by how close they feel things are, as I understand it, even .25cc or .5cc can make a large difference when you are close to good restriction.

Hi there!

I've had .25cc removed because I was just a little too tight. I thought it was amazing that such a small amount of liquid could make a difference, but it really did.

Good luck!

Melanie

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
