Does anyone else gurgle when they drink/eat?

Recommended Posts

Since I got good restriction a few months ago, everything I drink or eat stuff like yogurt, pudding, ice cream etc seem to make my esophagus gurgle. Sounds like my tummy rumbling, but it's coming out of my throat. It's truly embarrassing - especially when I'm on a date with a new guy!I'm not really into hiding it or anything, but I wasn't plannng on telling them on our first date! What do I say about the very loud noises coming out of my throat?

Anyone else have this gurgle? I've heard my sister in law say that she had it for a couple of yrrs after her gastric bypass. I can understand more for that, but I don't understand the noises from the band. Most people that I eat with know about my surgery, so they laugh when the noise comes, sometimes really, really loudly.

One of those side effects they never told us about.....

I gurgle all the time. It's usually when I'm drinking liquids or eating pudding type stuff.. My boyfriend won't let me drink Water before bed anymore b/c when I lay down the gurgling gets worse and he can't sleep. :)

Yep, gurgling in a meeting is a fun one. I find it doesn't happen every time, more when I eat too soon after drinking something (like not waiting about 30 minutes), drinking when I eat, or when a bit of food is about to get stuck.

Learning the gurgle triggers helps me avoid them. Most of the time now I do! Good luck. :)

I"m gurgling as well, but only when I drink liquids for an extended period of time. Like right now, I'm drinking Isopure and I get a little gurgle noise here and there. Hopefully it goes away, lol.

It's a function of your restriction level. Like when you put the 5 gallon Water bottle on the cooler. It bubbles and burps as the Water drains down. If the bottle had a bigger opening the water would just rush right out; if smaller, it would bubble more and longer as the water drained.

The band is like the neck of the bottle. My band is loose right now (going for a fill on Tuesday), so I don't gurgle at all at the moment. Nor do I burp as much as when I had more restriction.

Wow! I was not aware of this. I learn something everyday. I get my 1st fill in 2 weeks. Does everyone gurgle after they start getting their fills? just curious.

I didn't start gurgling until I got my last fill. I have 7.2 cc in a 10 cc band.

I gurgle when I drink fluids. Imagine your pouch as a funnel or a sink drain. It's the Fluid exiting into your stomach. I try not to eat or drink anything before I go to bed. It's not very appealing to my hubby..hah. And I didn't start gurgling until about my 3-4 fill when I had good restriction. I have 6 fills now and it's pretty loud.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
