August Rush in bandland!

I hope its ok that I started this thread over on the post-op side! Just wanted to check in to see how those who have been banded are doing?

Im 5 days post op and Im HUNGRY. This all liquid business is really getting annoying. I think Im dehydrated too but Im going in to see my doctor today just to make sure everything is ok. I was feeling nauseous and still running a low grade fever. I talked with the doc last night and she said she didn't seem too worried about it but wanted me to come in today just to followup. Im going to ask her about starting some applesauce, pudding or thinned out cream of wheat. I need something more solid in my stomach.

To top everything else off- Im having female issues and bathroom issues. I started my period a week early 3 days before surgery even though Im on the pill and technically not supposed to start until this week. And I have a yeast infection from the antibiotics I got in the hospital. And then with nothing but liquids coming out I have a hemorrhoid. SHOOT ME NOW.

And the worst was last night when I was taking care of some lady business and was trying to be real gentle with my insicions so I didnt stretch too much and hurt them- well I got the MOTHER of all cramps in my lower abdomen (down below my belly button) that would not go away. I was in EXCRUCIATING pain and it hurt so bad that I really thought I was going to black out from the pain. After what seemed like 10 years (but really only 30 secs) things started getting better. But I called my husband upstairs and had him lay down iwth me just to make sure I wasnt going to pass out.

Anyways, after last night Im glad Im going in to see the doctor. I think I need to get some gatorade to drink because im probably dehydrated but just want to check with her to make sure its ok. And hopeing she will clear me to eat a little something. Im tired of feeling so weak and tired all the time.

I have discovered, much to my chagrin, that Crystal Light gives me gas, and I guzzle that all day. ohmy.gif

I FINALLY HIT ONEDERLAND!

I started out at 266 and had surgery August 24, 2010. I have been losing and gaining the same 4 pounds for 6 frickkin' weeks. I had a fill May 18 and restriction, I think the sweet spot, green zone, whatever, is here.

I have 8.5cc in an 11 cc Realize Band. The moral is don't give up.

It has been at least 9 years since I have had a one in front of my weight. I love my band.

I have gone from a size 22 to a 14. I feel so much better physically and mentally. I am 59 years old and am off blood pressure meds, my labs are all normal.

I still want to lose another 25 pounds, but don't feel in such a hurry anymore, I know it will come, just keep doing what I am doing.

I don't count calories and am pretty lax about exercising. I eat about everything good for me. I have several vodka cranberry cocktails every week and maybe a couple glasses of wine. I have given up my sweets, bread, pasta and potatoes. Those are by willpower, cause I could eat them. If I have that willpower why the band? The band damps my appetite, I eat much smaller portions and do not have ravenous hunger, so the band works pretty much as I was told to expect.

We all work our bands differently, there is no absolute right way to do this journey.

DON'T GIVE UP.

well that is totally me to...I have 40 pounds to go, but I am not quite in the hurry that I was! I also like my cocktails, but I do exercise (although It has been pretty hot here lately) Need to get up earlier in the morn! Congrats on the weight loss my friend! Don't we all feel better! Oh and by the way the door is opened much more often, and the men are really checking me out more too, also the women seem to be nicer to me....go figgur!

Thanks Kelly,,

I just wish some of the newer bandsters could realize this is a journey, with a destination, but not necessarily a timetable. Those friggen' plateaus are so hard to wait out. My heart goes out to the few that the band does not work for, but I do think that percentage is lower than one would believe from some posting here. I know I need to incorporate more exercise into my day, but I am 80% more active than I was a year ago that I think is why I am losing with no formal exercise plan. I just move all day long and don't sit until after dinner. Just move. Exercise does not have to be a all or nothing deal.

WOOO HOOOO!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!

I'm so ready to be able to get up off the couch and not feel like a blob even though I've been losing weight. It amazes me how much of a difference I feel when I actually exercise.

In a bit of I would have never done this 2 years ago news, I signed up for college for the fall semester. I feel so much better about myself, that I want to better myself. I'm finally going to go back to college to finish up my nursing degree. This should be fun with 4 kids.

Good Luck Monica!! I finally started back to college this Spring. We have 3 kids, ages 10, 4 and 1. It can be CRAZY at times!

I've been exercising every day and you know what? It really does give me more energy. I would have never thought that. I feel great now and I hate to miss my workout.

A little crazy phenom that I've noticed since I started on hormone replacement therapy. My appetite has disappeared. I used to get hungry around 3 or 4, but now, I don't. I still want to get another fill, but I find it strangely odd that this has happened. It also makes me wonder just how much hormones play a part in my appetite.

Tylee, I find that fascinating! Keep us posted on that.......Are you still not hungry? How long have you been on replacement therapy? I would love to lose my appitite.......

I have been on HRT since June 10. I'm still not hungry. I've lost what appetite I had.

Is the weight just falling off you? Oh I'm so jealous! Ha ha JK.....but I am happy for you!

I've lost 13 pounds since June 9.

ETA: The weight loss has slowed down over the last few days. I'm back to normal with that. I just enjoy not being hungry around 3 to 4 like I used to be.

I scheduled a fill for July 6. This will only be my 3rd fill, and my first one since October. I'm hoping I can tell a difference. I can't wait to get one.
