  1. Big NSV-- just tried on my leather boots which were tough to zip up last year. Not only did they zip easily, but there was plenty of room in the calf. Now if it would only get cooler.....
  2. Hi all August Rush bandsters-- I'm down 87 lbs from my all time high, 70 from surgery on 8/4/10. Was at a standstill but joined a new gym 3 weeks ago, so I'm hoping to finally move the scale in the right direction. Still, everything is so much better than last year- health, clothes. joints. 30-35 lbs to go before I'm out of the woods. No regrets whatsoever, though. All is good!
  3. I have discovered, much to my chagrin, that Crystal Light gives me gas, and I guzzle that all day.

    July 4 Challenge 2011

I am going to up the ante to 13. That will put me at a 100 lb loss since my last physical a year ago.
  5. I am so glad to read these posts. I'm an August 2010 bandster as well, and have had many fills (6? 7?) and still have no restriction. I have been losing steadily (abeit slowly), but it's been 100% willpower. I'm going in next Tuesday for my next fill and am hopeful this will be the one. I thought I was the only one with this problem. And I cannot wait until the band kicks in to help this process along!
  6. I was banded on August 4, 2010. I've had about 6 fills and STILL don't have restriction. Guess it's a prolonged "Bandster's Hell" for me, although I have lost 82 lbs from my highest weight (which was this time last year). I am more than ready for this band to do its thing!
  7. Congratulations!!! I hit it last week and was 197 as of this morning!! This is a killer time- Christmas- so kudos to all of us who are either holding our own or even losing during this time.

    List your NSV's here!

Wearing my 12W Talbot's jeans I'd worn once or twice 5 years ago, and flying for the first time since surgery-- I couldn't buckle the seat belt before (shhh.....). Now, not only did it buckle, but I had SIX INCHES of seat belt to spare!!
  11. I know this isn't much help to the shoppers, but I've had great luck in my own closet. I guess being a packrat during the last several years is finally paying off! I have made a deal with myself not to do too much shopping until I'm much nearer my goal. In the meantime, smaller sizes and slightly dated clothes from our guest closet will have to do!
  12. I had been in a stall as well, but it seems to have been broken, although I don't really know why....also BIG NSV- I am able to wear several pairs of pants I wore 5 years ago during my last big weight loss. Here's to closet shopping!!!!
  13. Hang in there, everyone. I just got back from the doctor's office for my first fill. It just takes sheer will to get through the hell, and it doesn't necessarily end with the first fill. I don't really feel it (yet), but am stubborn enough to keep on keepin' on. BTW, the fill was a nothing. No pain, no problem.

    COSTCO Rocks!!!

    Good to know!!
  15. I am one week out today and feeling okay. Just gassy, still. And I second the need for something salty- all this artificial sweetner is not my cup of tea. But I'm not really hungry yet....I'm sure that will come soon enough...

    liquid diet bathroom issues

Hi everyone. I am on day number 3 and the "liquid" began last night and hasn't subsided. Guess I'm a member of the club as well! Ugh.
  17. I was banded on Wednesday, the 4th, along with a hiatal hernia repair. I am also cold at night, unusually so. Have been on clear liquids since I got home (3 pm yesterday) and tonight have developed diahhrea. Have a little gas- lots of bloating. No pain in the shoulder/neck, thank goodness. But I could use a few good "frat boy trumpets"!!
  18. Yesterday was also my day. Arrived at the hospital at about 8 am (after some confusion on the doctor's front). DH was with me, they took my back to change into that designer gown and fuzzy socks. Also, put the puff booties on me. DH then joined me for the anesthesiologist briefing and to meet the doctor, then he left and I was off to the OR. I remember being in the OR, seeing lots of white- lights, cabinets, then the mask, then nothing. (Oh, and I'd had the twilight drip and hep shot before being wheeled down the hall). The hep shot was in the arm, btw, and stung a little, but not too bad. Woke up in the recovery room, cold and groggy but ok. Didn't have to have a catheter at all. Was stuck in the recovery room for a few hours because a room wasn't available yet- I felt like a jet who can't yet get to the gate. Moved to my room, had a slew of visitors- interns, nurses, of course, my DH. I dont' remember much, except that I was unbelievably sleepy and just wanted to drift off. I had no sleep last night- being visited every 2 hours by nurses, doctors, interns, etc. for vitals, more heprin, bathroom visits, etc. I did have trouble urinating- which alarmed them more then me- so they doubled my fluid intake and I looked like a beach ball. Fortunately the dam broke about 3 this morning and I have no problem now. The gas is almost non-existent. I'd really been concerned by the referred pain and all the comments here, but it's not mucha-much. Have had a couple of Gas-X strips when I came home and have deflated, both in terms of fluids and gas. Here's the thing that surprised me- I was given nothing more than water for the whole time I was in the hospital (8 am- 3:00 pm the next day)- I thought that was unusual. I didn't miss anything else, though, as I'm not now, but I came home and had 1/2 a sf popsicle, and just finished some chicken broth. Yummy. Everything is relative now.... Good luck to everyone on the brink of this voyage. So far, it hasn't been nearly as rough as I'd expected.

    Tommorow is the big day

I was banded yesterday- so far, so good! Not much gas and virtually no pain. I hope yours goes as smoothly.

    Magic Bullet

I love my bullet, and use crushed ice before blending, so that might help with the ice problem. Great for blending protein shakes, especially if you are adding more "taste"!

I am going to be banded on August 4. Your post is such inspiration to me and will be in the next year (and beyond). It's a journey, I know, but with posts like this, much easier to remain on course:thumbup: Thank you.

    August 2010 anyone?

Brand new to posting here- have been lurking for a couple of months. I'm scheduled for August 4 and am looking forward to this next chapter. I'm 54 (yikes!), 5'5' and 260 lbs, give or take. I'm also consuming everything in my path until I go on the pre-surgery diet on Wednesday.
