I got my Zumba DVDs yesterday, and I love them so far. I can't wait to build up my stamina to the hour long one. I just did the 20 minute express one, and it flew by. I couldn't believe when it was done. It was much harder than doing the treadmill at the gym.

:crying: could use a little advice...

I was banded august 30...My doctor wanted me on 2 weeks Clear Liquids with the exception that I drink milk Protein shakes) and 2 weeks full liquids. Which for me has meant I now have some fat free sugar free pudding and a strained low fat cream Soup. I don't really eat the few other things I can now have (yogurt, cottage cheese, blech) so I haven't really changed much...

on monday morning I was 229.9 (was so happy). Tuesday woke up to 231.4 and today woke up to 231.6....what's going on...really the only change is the 1/2 cup of pudding...I even walked yesterday and I find myself starting to walk more just because....

well...feeling kinda down about this as I HAD been losing a pound a day and now blech, heading in the wrong direction but still only taking in about 5-600 cals if that much

Tara201, consider other reasons for weight gain such as Water retention. My doc told me that Fluid balance fluctuates a lot during the 1st few weeks post op. Also, you may wanna put the scale away. I know it's tough and we get fixated on it. But, you don't wanna weigh yourself everyday, the normal fluctations will dry you nuts! I was weighing myself too much too so my husband hid the scale from me. (I found it, but I got the point). Good luck and try not to worry too much since you're 2 weeks post op. The 1st month is a healing period.

Thanks so much....it's very hard to stay off the scale. I was just so sure I'd see it go back down today...Did anyone else see their weight go up while still on liquids or rather changing from clear liquids to full liquids?

I did. I saw it go up when I went from liquids to mushies, and from mushies to solids. It is very common. As a matter of fact, I actually saw an increase in my weight over the last week. I've gone up nearly 5 pounds. Still can't figure out why.

hey girls-

Sorry I havent been around in a while- Im a preschool teacher and started back to work 2 weeks ago and its been hectic. Anyways, I saw my doc yesterday and had my first fill- 3cc's in an 11 cc band (or so the doc thinks- she cant remember how much my band holds). The fill was easy but she did do the local anesthetic before doing the fill. Which Im grateful for...i saw the size of that stinking needle that they were using for the fill! LOL! I didn't eat lunch yesterday so by the time dinner rolled around I was pretty hungry. Ate a chicken tender and chewed really well and also ate some mashed taters and mac-n- cheese. Had no problems getting food down. But today is going to be the real test- hopefully I wont be as hungry as I have been the past 4 weeks.

I have missed reading your posts.Congratulations on your weight loss!

My weight has gone up about 5lbs too.

Last night I was out and my feet and legs were visibly swollen so I think I am retaining a lot of Water for some reason.

At this point I'm just waiting for my fill and I'll see what happens then.

Right now, I'm very afraid that I am on just another diet and it's not going well.

I'm eating much less than I used to eat plus I'm not drinking any alcohol or diet soda or chips or any of that other stuff so I think I should be dropping a ton just from that. I'm gonna chill for now but after next month if this mess keeps going on I'm officially pissed.

Ladies, I too gained five pounds when I moved up to mushies, and it stayed there for two weeks! Yesterday I was down three of those pounds, and this morning the rest. I have had one fill, with plesant results.

Now that I'm back on solids I eat a piece of chicken in the morning, I am full all day. Thank God I don't have to eat mushies anymore, they just don't keep you full very long.

Hang in there,

Kelly:redface:

I was totally going to post about this why oh why am I gaining weight when I eat less and way better then I was pre-band?

I totally felt that this is another diet gone bad I told myself this, this morning but others have commented on my face looking thinner and my clothes fit better so it cant be all that bad.

I have put my scale away and have decided not to weigh until Monday the 20th (lets see if I can hold off that long).

I too am just waiting on my fill next month to help with the hunger pangs..Good Luck to us ALL!!!

I went in for my first post-op appt today, and surprisingly got a fill! I wasn't expecting to get one this soon! Feeling pretty good so far, but I'm actually hungry. Before today I really hadn't felt much hunger. Weird! I'm a little nervous though now that I actually have something in my band, I'm worried I'm gonna go overboard and end up vomiting. Erg! My surgeon was happy with my weight loss, I just hope that it keeps up!

Ok August rushers...

I need to know. Is anyone else having poop issues? I don't poop for days. I eventually gove in and take some MoM, but now that I am back at work I am afraid, as the need to go comes on fast and furious. I am on week 1 of the high Protein puree stage (liquids + soft eggs, shreddeed tune/cicken, pureed soups).

I'm not drinking as much Water as I should, but even when I was...

Yes that happens when your eating mostly yogurt and Protein Shakes, for me.

I realized yesterday that I have not had a bowel movement in at least a couple of days probably 3.

Maybe that's why I'm bloated. When you're not taking in much substance like meat, fruit, veggies and bread there really is not much to come out. Not going to the bathroom keeps you from losing too.

I drank some Super Dieters tea last week but then someone said that taking laxatives is not good for the pouch. Has anyone heard that?

What to do ? what to do?

Dee

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
