Port Pain at 1 week Post Op

Hi. I was banded last week (July 30th) and noticed that the past few days, when I walk, I feel very tender and sore in the port area. Feels like the port is grinding into my skin. It is really uncomfortable. Is anyone else (that is recently banded) dealing with this issue? I am hoping this is a normal stage of the healing phase.

When I had my surgery, my port area was extremely painful. I would get sharp pains that lasted for abou a month. Everyone is different but typically that is the incision that hurts the most. I hope things get better for you.

I also had my surgery on 7/30, and I too still have port pain (AND gas pain, but it has definitely gotten better in the last couple days.)

Here's hoping we're both feeling good as new SOON! :)

You are not alone! I too was banded on the 30th and have just started experiencing port pain. I have alot of pain on my right side also. Just gotta hang in there, it will get better!

7/30 seems to be a popular date!!

By the way, Brockbabe - Holy Cow WAY TO GO - 175 pounds lost so far!! You are my inspiration. :)

I was a little shocked at the hideous looking port scar. Will this diminish over time? It is too painful to touch but I was able to lie flat for the first time last night which means it IS improving. I get so impatient. I want the days to pass so I can get over the initial weeks and move on with life. Drinking 1 ounce every 15 minutes has been annoying and I can't get all of my protein in. I guess i will just have to go bald. ha ha

Amanda, my gosh congrats on your terrific weight loss. That is so encouraging to us newbies. I was banded 7/21/10 and still have port pain. I have been told by my doc's office that it is typical to be sore for months bcs it is connected to a muscle. They told me ice 15 min off and 15 min on whenever you can will help.
