  1. Congrats on your weight loss!! That is truly wonderful. I was banded on 7.21.10, so about 3 months in and have lost 33.5 lbs. For the last 6 weeks or so am just bouncing up and down 2 or 3 lbs and it is so frustrating. I work out every day and eat right. Any advice to get it moving again? Thanks Kim
  2. I had the surgery done in July and have lost pounds. I have been at this same loss for the last month. Any ideas on how to get it jump started again? I work out every day and eat right... Frustrated..
  3. Hi Shay... I will be buddies with you. I was just banded on 7/21 and am going for my first fill tomorrow 8/18. I am a little anxious about it but ready bcs I am starting to get hungry in btwn meals which I wasn't doing before. How are you doing?
  4. You are not alone with feeling sad or emotional. I was recently banded on 7/21 and it might sound crazy but I was scared of changing bcs I have been the same size for about 20 years. The first morning that I woke up, I thought oh my gosh, did I really do this? It is a life changing process and I think if you weren't feeling a little anxious, sad or emotional about changing not only your size but who you are as a result of it, that wouldn't be normal. Hang in there... Good luck to you.
  5. Hi everyone. I was banded 7/21 and have been on solids for about a week now. I have been walking a miniumum of a mile a day and have lost 25 lbs. I am having my first PMS since the surgery and am getting hungry a lot faster. I have an appt for a fill tomorrow 8/18 and am worried that they won't agree to give me one with the good weight loss, but it has slowed this last couple of weeks like crazy. What do they go by to decide? If I am hungry all the time is that enough? Also, are you supposed to fast? They didn't tell me anything...
  6. GNC sells some protein mixes that have more protein grams in them than what I bought from my doctor. The one I recall is called WHEY. They taste pretty good to. Right now I am using Syntha 6 from GNC and it is good and has a lot of protein as well. There really isn't much more you can do while on soft foods. Hang in there.
  7. I feel quite the opposite. The more people around me that I have told; the more support I have gained. It keeps me accountable and I find that I want to really keep it up because everyone does know about it. If you feel good about what you have done; why be ashamed? Use it to your benefit by sharing...
  8. I had a whole lot of trouble in the beginning with the trapped gas pains and was told to avoid not only using a straw, but chewing gum. It causes you to swallow a lot more air that can cause problems.
  9. Betsy, I was only banded 7/21 with a fill during surgery of 3cc, but none since. What is flouro? Congrats on your weight loss to by the way.
  10. Carlie, so sorry to hear that. I was just banded on 7/21 and picked up a friend who had the same surgery today and talked to the surgeon about when to get a fill and he said when you are getting hungry and start gaining or don't lose for a period of time. When they cannot locate the port, they do an x-ray, but would never send you home. I would call and speak to someone. That just doesn't seem like good service to me. Everyone in our positions need to see a loss to stay motivated. Stay on them about it.. I wouldn't wait 2 months. Good luck and keep us posted.
  11. I was banded 7/21 and had a lot of burping as well. Eating ice and chewing gum cause you to swallow air. I used the gas x strips the max times per day. The burping and gas seem to subside within 7-8 days of surgery. If you have gas trapped as well, walking is the best thing and helped mine within a couple of days. Good luck to all of you.
  12. I was only banded 7/21 and just started on food. I can only share what my doc suggested to stay on track and continue losing. Divide your meals into protein, veggies and carbs. Start on the protein until you have finished and if still hungry, move on to the veggie and they said you would rarely make it to the carb if you stop when your full. Sounds good anyway. I understand what your saying about the "diet" thing. I guess what we have to keep in mind is that this is only a tool and it will work if we use it properly. I wish you luck and hope you find a balance to start losing again.
  13. Kathy, what a wonderful story. Congrats to you on for reaching such a significant goal. You look great. Have fun shopping!!! Keep us up to date in the future.
