What can we do about post op burping?

I've been burping a lot since I got banded but today is the worst. Constant burping and belching like you would get with indigestion.

Is there anything that will help it?

I'm 5 days into my band and I've been the same way. It was suggested to me that if I could, to lay on my left side. Supposedly it helps the gas find its way out and relieves the pressure. I have to say, I've been laying on my left side on the sofa and when I do, it definitely helps me.

I'm not sure that there's anything you can do to make it better (other than the comment about laying on your left side).

But what I can tell you is that it gets better as time goes on. However, it doesn't seem to completely go away (at least for me).

I have been banded for almost 3 months now and I burp prolly 7x more then the average person now. I just have learned to live with it.

I was banded 7/21 and had a lot of burping as well. Eating ice and chewing gum cause you to swallow air. I used the gas x strips the max times per day. The burping and gas seem to subside within 7-8 days of surgery. If you have gas trapped as well, walking is the best thing and helped mine within a couple of days. Good luck to all of you.
