Hope all those who now have bands are doing well, looking forward to hearing more about your journey.

those that are going tomorrow thinking about you!

Freshstart do share about OCC as I'll be there soon.

I ate a no bake cookie yesterday but my calories were still reasonable. I've lost 3 lbs, hoping for another 12 by the 27th.

Does anyone know anything about too much calcium and kidney stones? I bough my metamucil that was on my diet from stupid walmart and all they had was with calcium, but really with 2 shakes a day I am getting 100% rda of calcium just with that. but I know I don't want kidney stones either.

those that had tests and have to look more into their health / heart I am sorry to hear that and hope all works out for you. I, being a Mexico girl worry about this type of thing because I would hate to fly there and then be turned away.

Hi Pooky - how are you doing? What time is your surgery scheduled for ?

rkwilliams1013, Run Girl Run, pooky032281, ahlmanfamily, Loyalfriend, spitfireleo, Lanah, kydman-- hope your surgery went just fine today.

Freshstart2010, gracerev, ILUVFOOD, Esin - Good Luck Tomorrow and Hope to hear from you guys soon.

LisaA --Hi Lisa - when I was doing my research on vitamins I did not want to overdose on the daily recommended amounts, I guess they are there for a reason. My doctor wants me to take 500mg of calcium 3 times a day. I get my first dosage in my shake, the second in my multivitamin and my third in a plan chewable just calcium tablet with nothing else added. The problems that I kept running into were the Vit D, E and magnesium. Most calcium pills have 100% of the daily recommended dosage of Vit D in each pill. I did not want to take 300% of Vit D. After doing a lot of research and breaking down the components, I was able to get my recommended daily dosage of vitamins without much overdosing.

I don't know the ramifications of extra calcium in the body for a long period of time but can't imagine it's good. Plus we have very hard water, so I took that into consideration too.

Lanah -- I remember that feeling. Your might even be out of surgery by now. Hope you are doing well and look forward to hearing from you soon.

bandalley -- Congratulations on your surgery date. We are here to help you make it through this journey.

lemonchick -- Congratulations on your surgery date and welcome to our family.

donnalys -- I was given a blood thinner shot right before surgery. The nurse said that was a normal procedure now-a-days. I just made the comment that I thought it was weird that you are giving me a blood thinner right before you are going to cut me in 4 places and you want the blood to stop bleeding. Seemed like a conflict of interest but all went well.

mytrice -- Congratulations on your surgery date.

pooky032281 -- It's so exciting to see everyone posting while waiting for surgery. Look forward to hearing from you from BandLand.

RN.Violet -- Congratulations and glad to have you a part of our family.

Mandyrae -- Congratulations on getting the "all clear" from the cardiologist. Did they say why your heart was enlarged?

phershey -- I have not heard of unjury? Thanks for the recommendation - I'll try it. Do you know off hand if I can buy it locally or would I have to order it online?

cicigirl -- I have found myself weighting everyday. You might be surprised that you want to continue to lose so you can update your ticker.

wishful-thinking - Hello and welcome to the family and congratulations on getting your approval and your surgery date. I think most of us having to go through the insurance hoops have absolutely NO patience by the end. I know I did not.

crecia1975 -- I called Cigna on a daily until I got the approval. I wrote down the name of everyone that I spoke too and what they said, just in case I needed it later. I was lucky that everything went through fine for me. Hope you hear something soon.

Brian-LA -- Hi Brian, you are in the fast lane for this. I started planning in Jan, and then started seeing doctors in Feb and banded last week. So that was only 8 months. I know I put my husband through hell especially the last 2 months before surgery.

danide - I did not experience anything weird like that during my pre-op diet. On day 2 of my only liquids I had a killer headache all day long but that was it. Hope your dreams get better between now and Monday.

Hi,

I'm a newbie. Long time reader, first time poster. I got my date, which is Septermber 20th! All documents are in order, all tests are done and vitamins purchased. I'm very excited about this jorney. This year I lost 30 lbs on my own and ready to continue with the help of lap band. Good luck to all of you!

:)

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your support already, i am really glad i found this site! I will send all of you best wishes, looks like we've got the month covered!

Good luck September Sweeties!

Looking forward to the September Success Stories in the weeks to come!

Cheers!:)

I am new here and to the lapband. I dont know how long this experience takes prior to having surgery. Can you all fill me in on what I have to do? I have been on a diet for about a year already. Have had heart workup, blood and even psych evail and that was just for SSD. LOL I have back and spine problems which I had a trilevel cervical disectomy done in Feb and now am facing surgery on my hip. Im hoping to get the Lapband before I have to go in for this surgery to see if the wieght loss will make it better. If I sound like Im falling apart I am. LOL Still in a pretty good mindset though, I just want this weight off. I dont eat a lot I just dont eat right or excercise. I cant at this time, as its hard to even sit or stand too long but I still work at a desk job. Everyone that has advice please give it. And thank you ahead of time. :)

Thought I was going to be banded in July, but looks like I am going to get to celebrate with this crew!! Just got the call that my insurance has been approved! I go in for a pre-op appointment with the surgeon 9/7, and then we will set a date! FANTASTIC!

Hi all, If I am not mistaken vitamin C is water soluble so whatever the body doesn't use is washed out. I don't think you would be overdosing on vitamin C . If you are prone to kidney stones then it may be a problem. Vitamins A,D,Eand K are fat soluble and not excreted. Best wishes to todays banders your journey has officially begun!

Hey everyone! BandLand is such a great place to be. I'm sore, but not really hurting, more tired than anything. I hope my fellow bandmates all came thru with flying colors! Will post more when I get home.

way to go Pooky! Let us have the details when you are feeling up to it.

Freshstart2010, gracerev, ILUVFOOD, Esin: Good Luck tomorrow. Will be thinking of you:thumbup:

pookey032281: Glad to hear your doing well... Congrats:thumbup:

Ok yeah, so the gas is a major pain...its all in my right shoulder. I had to stay overnight due to a reaction to a breathing treatment. At least I had a thorough doc who wasn't antsy to push me out the door! Best wishes to you girls tomorrow, you'll be in my prayers!

Hey Everyone! I am new to this site and just recently had my first consult with surgeon. I have been given all the paperwork or really checklist of physicians that need to be seen prior to getting a letter sent to GHI. At first my i was scared when i left his office only because this is a huge decision that i am making, and was thinking of having the single incision lap band. Of course I smoke, which makes it more difficult for me. I guess i am more stressed knowing that i have to quit or no surgery and that made me more intense. I have already seen the endocrinologist and cardiologist, have a pulmonary visit tomorrow. My insurance doesnt cover the nutrionist so that will be an out of pocket expense, but its ok because i have to do this. I am 5 ft tall and have gained over 85 lbs in the last 3 years alone. I can barely make it up the stairs, i have atrial fibrillation, which is a heart arrythmia, and I just wanna be able to play ball and run around with my 9 year old son. i can't wear jeans because my waste is tiny and behind is plump, lol. I have to be healthy for me and for him. i hear such great stories on here but of course with any surgeries its a bit scary. we have to take the bad with the good i guess. if we want to be healthy we gotta do what we have to do.

has anyone here smoked prior to surgery and if so what did you have to do to quit? i am also worried a bit about the eating, and the gas pains that i have read about. i don't have a gallbladder so i guess its no worse than that...i hope not..lol..

i am hoping for an october date, but we will see. i am trying to get all my md appts done within the next week and then will submit everything to surgeon for submission to insurance? does anyone have GHI? im curious as to how much time to take off from work, maybe 2-3 weeks, does that sound reasonable? geez so many questions..lol

please keep in touch everyone!

ladies and gents i wish you all the best of luck with your surgeries and post surgeries.:)
