HEARTBURN!! :(
Ok, so I went to the MD office and saw the PA. She said she didnt want to remove any fills nor give me any fills. I was given Protonix for now and see how it goes along with eating mush for the next week. She said it could have been food that was sitting in the pouch for awhile that may have caused the heartburn. So lets hope the meds work and go from there. If i still feel this way come next Monday, they will want to do an endoscopy. So hopefully it will all be good!! thanks guys!! xo

HEARTBURN!! :(
That's what the Dr said to me on the phone, that it could be that its too tight. But i was fine last week when i had it, and then a few days later i felt it a lil heartburn and thought it was because i forgot to take my meds, lol. Then yesterday it was all afternoon after having tuna salad. I was getting so nervous and he said it could be that its too tight. so we shall see in a lil while.

HEARTBURN!! :(
i honestly don't remember having heartburn when i first got banded, but i think it is from the surgery and the adjustment of the band being implanted. You can take antacids, which i know i lived on for weeks due to bad gas pains. i think that was my biggest complaint the gas pains and the shoulder pain. but suddenly i have bad heart burn and it won't go away and its making me nervous. i guess we will have a de-fill today and go from there. we shall see what the doctor says. i hope you feel better...but def take some mylanta or something.

HEARTBURN!! :(
HEY EVERYONE, HOPE YOU GUYS ARE ALL WELL....SINCE YESTERDAY I HAVE BEEN HAVING SEVERE HEARTBURN, WITH A LITTLE DISCOMFORT FEELING IN THE CENTER OF MY CHEST INTO MY BACK. I SPOKE WITH THE DOCTOR YESTERDAY AND HE SAID IT SEEMS THE BAND IS TOO TIGHT SO WE NEED TO REMOVE SOME FILL. I HOPE ITS ONLY THAT BECAUSE I DON'T WANT IT TO BE A BAND SLIPPAGE. IF IT WERE A BAND SLIPPAGE, ID FEEL WORSE RIGHT? I DON'T VOMIT AND THERE IS NO PAIN WHEN EATING, OTHER THAN FEELING RESTRICITION. I AM NOT SURE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS FELT THE SAME FEELING SUCH AS HEARTBURN, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I AM GOING TO MD LATER TODAY TO FIGURE THIS OUT, BUT JUST NERVOUS.

BANDED 11/29/10, ONLY LOST 10 LBS....WTH...
WOW!!!!!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR REPSONSES....IT FEELS GOOD TO KNOW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONLY OUT THERE STRUGGLING.... I would love to food journal and weigh my food, i just don't have enough time during the day to do so...i do find however that i know the portion sizes by judging it from my hand....I am just so busy working and juggling sports with my son, that i am always running around...i do find that i am not staying full as long as i thought i should be....certain foods do get stuck on me, so i chew even slower bites....and take my time... i have 4.5 cc's in there right now, and going again in like 3 weeks for the additional visit. i am walking because i bascially zumba-sized myself into tendonitis and can't do it anymore but i do alot of other stuff around the house and the walking everynite helps...little by little... what do you guys have through out the day, sometimes i get stuck on what to eat...especially when i am at work..so many food choices and just don't know what to have.... again thanks you guys for being there!!!

BANDED 11/29/10, ONLY LOST 10 LBS....WTH...
I am getting so frustrated with only having lost 10 lbs...I flop from 201-203 on a regular basis. I have 2 fills so far, and my band has 4.5 cc's in it...Its very discouraging to think i went through the surgery and i should have at least lost 20 lbs by now, at least. Others that were banded with me the same day, have lost well over 25 lbs. I eat my Protein first always, 3 meals a day...drinking Water,, and even started walking...I did Zumba for a month and gave myself tendonitis in my hip and knee and ankle from trying so dagg hard...lol.... Very frustrated...

PAIN OR PULLING BY PORT SITE
fluffytofabulous: the pain is not always there, and i ate well over an 11/2 hrs ago...so i would think that the pouch is empty....does anyone think it is related to the pulling of the port as well? i dont know...it sux sometimes to have to wonder what all these aches and pains are..lol

PAIN OR PULLING BY PORT SITE
also, the pain in shoulder can occur even on an empty stomach.... i had a ct scan done and all was great other than them thinking that the diaphragm is becoming irritated from the wire......i also do get some pain in the middle of the stomach area as well. right in the middle of the breast bone not left or right . is that common as well?

PAIN OR PULLING BY PORT SITE
Thanks Rchavez101 and fluffytofabulous.... it just started yesterday and didn't know if it occured while sleeping on the belly or stretching.....i don't feel it while sitting but when i get up and move about i do feel it. ughhhh the things u have to deal with to have to lose weight. did they perform a test or anything to look at the port to see if there was a hematoma? i mean i feel the port so its there and not floating around. now the abdomen belt, what does that look like and does that help you with moving around???? can this issue occur again? i put a call into the the drs office so we'll see what they say...now Rchavez mentioned he was poked with a needle and blood came out, so was the blood inside the port, was it absorbed into the port?? so many questions, i just wanna feel normal...and these are little things to worry about ...

PAIN OR PULLING BY PORT SITE
OK, SO THE LAST 2 DAYS I HAVE FELT THIS PULLING ON THE RIGHT SIDE RIGHT NEXT TO LARGE SCAR WHERE THE PORT IS. IT FEELS AS THOUGH ITS PULLING AGAINST MY SKIN. NOW I KNOW THAT OR AT LEAST I THINK THAT THE PORT IS NOT STITCHED TO MY SKIN. IT BOTHERS ME WHEN I TURN OR DO SUDDEN MOVEMENTS OR WALK IT FEELS LIKE I TORE SOMETHING. ITS VERY WEIRD. ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE THE SAME FEELING? I ALSO STILL HAVE THE SHOULDER PAIN AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DIAPHRAGM WAS IRRITATED BY THE WIRE FROM THE PORT. THAT IS WHY IT IS CAUSING THE SHOULDER PAIN BC OF IT TOUCHING OR RUBBING THE DIAPHRAGM. IT HAS SLOWLY DIMINISHED WITHIN THE LAST 2 WEEKS, BUT STILL FEEL IT BUT NOT WAS BAD AS PRIOR MOMENTS. AY YA YAY.....I WAS EXCITED TO HAVE THIS PROCEDURE DONE AND NOW I DOUBT IT BECAUSE OF THESE LIL ISSUES. I AM DOING GREAT WITH WEIGHT LOSS, SINCE 11/29, I HAVE LOST 13 LBS. THERE WAS NO PREDIET INVOLVED EITHER. SO NOT BAD I GUESS. SLOWLY BUT SURELY. BUT I DEF KNOW THAT I AM SEEING THE DR NEXT WEEK BUT I AM GONNA PASS ON THE FILL FOR THIS MONTH ESPECIALLY WITH THIS PULLING FEELING.

@ THSISME - i am taking the GAS X but ur limited to 2 a day...so its kind a hard. But i am doing the walking, but again hard when i feel like i have to have my hand there the whole time. But that's ok. THIS TOO SHALL PASS, right? lol The shoulder pain is horrible, so and taimes hinders me from even walking anywhere. It hurts to yawn and breathe.

NEWLY BANDED - NERVOUS NELLY
I have been on mushies from the day i got home from hospital per the dr. I guess as i have been reading, many drs have different rules huh? lol i am still having things like jello, pudding, protein shakes, mashed potato (1st time yesterday), soups like tomato and chicken and split pea and butternut squash...i am still very bloated. The stabbing pain is horrible. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!! It was there off and on like day 2 and then day 3 and ever since its getting worse. Thankfully Codeine helps. But i am only taking it at nite. I am walking to a degree and holding the port isn't so pretty when your walking outside. lol

NEWLY BANDED - NERVOUS NELLY
Hey everyone....i am newly banded and only 5 days post op- ...I have killer pain in my shoulder which i was told was normal and could last up to 2 weeks..its a stabbing pain, so i have to deal with it really. I take the codeine provided but only at night time....I have also been doing the walking but when i walk i feel a heaviness by the port, is this temporary or what? I feel like i have to hold up my side when walking. I have also been wearing a sports bra to help and it does just a little bit. Getting up from laying down and or sitting position, i feel achy in the mid section, i guess also from surgery. I just dont want to walk hunchback like forever, or is this also just from the surgery? I also feel like food doesn't taste right, lol...I am not sure if that has happened to anyone else. Maybe its just me. I am still very bloated from the surgery too. I also feel ugh, did i make the right decision or am i feeling these feelings because of how i am feeling? lol

-
BANDED ON MONDAY - 5 INCISIONS
yea the rumblings are def not pretty at all. it seems to get stuck in the left shoulder in my back and it gets stuck in the center of my belly....i wanna move a round more freely but that will happen in due time i guess. i thought id never get this done and here we are its done...lol i am eating mushies so just had homemade chkn Soup and for Breakfast had a chobani yogurt in vanilla. i guess later i will have some Jello or something. is it bad if you eat inbetween meals? you look great!!!! honestly i don't care that it sticks out, but can u notice it with something that your wearing that may be a little snug on you.. i mean i dont know about wearing a bikini but like does it bother you wearing a bra?

SO WE WERE BANDED ON MONDAY THE TRADITIONAL WAY OF 5 INCISIONS, CAN ANYONE RELATE TO THIS ON HERE? IF YOU WOULD PLEASE DESCRIBE UR ACHES, PAINS, GAS PAINS, BACK PAINS ETC, I FEEL THE BAND AND ACTUALLY SHOWERED TODAY AND FELT IT BY MISTAKE, IT SORT OF FELT WEIRD THAT IT IS RIGHT UNDER MY RIGHT BOOBIE....OUCH.....WILL THAT GO DOWN ONCE YOU LOSE THE WEIGHT SO THAT YOU CANT SEE THE LUMP FROM THE PORT? UGHH GEEZ SO MANY QUESTIONS...I DO FEEL MY BELLY RUMBLING ALOT...AND I MEAN A LOT...GAS DOES COME OUT BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR WHAT SEEMS TO BE IN THERE RUMBLING...

Banding tomorrow 11/29/10 - nervous and excited
So tomorrow is the Banding date. YIKES!!!! lol, i am nervous but not thinking about it but i am also excited...so the excitement outweighs the nerves. i am just mostly worried about the unknown part of the surgery and the afterwards affects. eventhough we had to take a class at the hospital as the hospital has a bariatric center, it was very interesting. the nurse admin walked us thru the day from the moment we arrive to the moment we go home. i just wonder how the meals are going to be. i pretty much loaded myself on anything i could think of prior to tomorrow...lol..we are only on 1 day preop preparation and on clear fluids. its been hard knowing i can't eat anything and can just imagine those that were on the preop diet for weeks prior to surgery. i feel for you guys. well i look forward to the new me and making new friends on here. i am sure we will become very friendly in the near future. wishing you all the best....

Banding Tomorrow 11/29/10
Well the time has come and i am being banded tomorrow. I have lots of worries and fears especially what to eat after. The doctor said mushies would be ok by Tuesday in the afternoon if all GOD WILLING goes well. So i have bought chobani yogurts, cottage cheese with the fruit in it, ricotta, i have my pro-stat 64 drink ready to be used, Jello, and sugar free pops, and everything i bought is mostly sugar free. but i feel like i am limited to that stuff oh and of course Soups...i guess you can have cream based but i haven't bought any creamed based. i will stay away from that for a while. but any other suggestions meal wise??? so nervous that i will just come home and have ice cream shakes Breakfast lunch and dinner.

One week away and extreme anxiety
Hey everyone: I am just as nervous...My surgery is scheduled for 11/30 and i have extreme anxiety...biggest fear of the anesthesia as well...and just hoping to wake up from the surgery....lol....its scary that they throw that 1% out at you, but you think about it...i know its mind over matter...but everything will be ok...i think the fear is "the unknown" mostly...and the what ifs...and as one of the other banders said, if we worried about the what ifs, we would never do anything like have children or get married...i am also a bit nervous because i can't have the single incision, so for me it is going to be the 5 incisions...i have a slight bleeding disorder and that makes me even more nervous.... but we are here for each other, and need the support....i can't wait for after the surgery and just to be done with it and move forward with a NEW LIFE....that is what I invision...the NEW ME.....so the bad is outwieghed from the GOOD....and can't wait to wear a pair of jeans and actually smile about the outfit that i am wearing and being confident...i hate the fact of pulling the shirts down over my ass, and wearing bigger shirts so that it hides my hips and ass too,...lol...i can't wait...but i am still nervous...i won't deny it, but will get over it.... please keep in touch everyone! xo

Smoking... I know I know.
I as well have stopped smoking but for me it has been only 5 days..lol...its pretty cold turkey of me but i do have the nicotrol device on hand when i need it...i as well feel the anxiety and the cravings, but its truly mind over matter..i just realized that i had dinner about an hour ago and i didn't have a craving for a smoke... i am in the process of getting all my dr visits in prior to my 2nd appt so that my surgery can be scheduled. i am nervous about the whole thing. to be honest i was more nervous that the dr told me i had to quit smoking or i wouldn't be able to have the surgery and i freaked. i said how in the world could i possible do this..but i wanted to be banded and wanted to be healthy and fit so i did it....we can do this together....we can save the money, live longer and healthier lives as well in the process...i dont know you, but i have faith in you...

Awaiting to be banded, going thru the processes...
Hey Everyone! I am new to this site and just recently had my first consult with surgeon. I have been given all the paperwork or really checklist of physicians that need to be seen prior to getting a letter sent to GHI. At first my i was scared when i left his office only because this is a huge decision that i am making, and was thinking of having the single incision lap band. Of course I smoke, which makes it more difficult for me. I guess i am more stressed knowing that i have to quit or no surgery and that made me more intense. I have already seen the endocrinologist and cardiologist, have a pulmonary visit tomorrow. My insurance doesnt cover the nutrionist so that will be an out of pocket expense, but its ok because i have to do this. I am 5 ft tall and have gained over 85 lbs in the last 3 years alone. I can barely make it up the stairs, i have atrial fibrillation, which is a heart arrythmia, and I just wanna be able to play ball and run around with my 9 year old son. i can't wear jeans because my waste is tiny and behind is plump, lol. I have to be healthy for me and for him. i hear such great stories on here but of course with any surgeries its a bit scary. we have to take the bad with the good i guess. if we want to be healthy we gotta do what we have to do. has anyone here smoked prior to surgery and if so what did you have to do to quit? i am also worried a bit about the eating, and the gas pains that i have read about. i don't have a gallbladder so i guess its no worse than that...i hope not..lol.. i am hoping for an october date, but we will see. i am trying to get all my md appts done within the next week and then will submit everything to surgeon for submission to insurance? does anyone have GHI? im curious as to how much time to take off from work, maybe 2-3 weeks, does that sound reasonable? geez so many questions..lol please keep in touch everyone! ladies and gents i wish you all the best of luck with your surgeries and post surgeries.
