  1. I had lost 34 pounds but gained 4 pounds back, so don't feel bad. I hope you can figure out whats going on with your lack of progress though, you should be thrilled still... If you hadn't lost that 32 with help of the band, you may have gained 32 lbs. Don't be so hard on yourself. 32 is still wonderful! I hav e been feeling great even though I gained 4... I am down 2 of the 4 so far. I see changes in my body. Im down to a size 16 from a 20. Not as great as I want but to me it is a big change for me. I feel normal now. And Im out of the morbid obese BMI. My doctor and staff are really supportive and don't think its super abnormal for me not to have lost more yet. They explained that (even though it is mostly my food choices that prevent me from losing more) it takes most people about a year to develop heathier habits and understand and learn to work the band. Im hoping/planning on losing at least 10 lbs more by my band anniversary date! Personal reason for not losing more... I haven't been on here in forever... I have been going through some depression since ending a 4.5 yr relationship 5 months ago. So with that depression I was eating a lot of junk food... my comfort foods... bad old habits, and I had stopped exercising. But I am doing really good now as far as not being depressed. I have been doing a bit better with watching what or at least how much comfort foods I am eating. I am dating someone new now, for just over 1 month. He is a HUGE inspriation because he apparently lost, on his own diet and exercise, 110 lbs... I only recently told him about my surgery, he didn't ask any questions other then how long ago. I so happy to see many people doing so well! Keep it up my peeps!
  2. Need to share... I am going to Punta Cana with my mom on Sunday (my treat to myself after recently having broken off a 4 yr relationship with an amazing man because hes not wanting to get married), so I am going through my summer cloths to pack... and guess what... some things fit so much better but my shorts and capris are WAY too big. Its only 29 pounds since the summer BUT OMG the fact that they slide off without having to unbutton or unzip is AMAZING! SO to EVERYONE whose sad about not losing more then 30 pounds like myself... TRY ON YOUR JULY/AUGUST cloths... They will show that the pounds made a HUGE difference .. its pounds and inches! SOOOO exciting.. Its a big motivator... Hopefully I can do another 20 pounds before summer!
  3. Like many of you, I haven't checked in in a while myself. So HI again everyone! Congratulations to those who are doing soo great! Thats really awesome! keep it up! Those who are struggling, don't give up! It may be slow, but at least you are not gaining! Think about if you did not have the band, would you have lost any weight, gained any or stayed the same. I know I would have gained more. Personally, I am down 29 lbs. Of course it could be better but I am certainly not complaining. Its 29 lbs less then I would have been if I didn't get banded! Im finally seeing a difference too, in the mirror and in my cloths. And other people are noticing now too. It seems like up to 25 lbs, no one noticed, but now people are commenting. 29 down, 35 more to go! Oh and yeah... its been a with a lot of work to lose just this amount. Im not at full restriction either. I think I have 3 or 4 or 10cc. I go back to the doctor, after 2 months, on March 22. So I will request another fill and that should work better. And yes, exercise is included! But I do admit, I am not perfect, I do eat junk food sometimes, thats why I know I can't blame anything but myself and just be satisfied with what I allow for myself. Keep it up people! Don't give up! WE ARE WORTH IT!!
  4. Everyones doing good. I am down 1 pound this week 227. You don't have to update it since I am late but just wanted to share this not so big loss. lol. its really only 1 pound in 2 weeks. I don't feel like am doing anything wrong but I losing so slow. Kinda disappointing but Im happier then it going up! lol Keep up the good work everyone!
  5. Good Job everyone! Keep it up! I cant accurately weigh myself this week (its that time of the month for me), so I will have to wait for next week! But hopefully there will be some good news next week.
  6. I find it so hard to calorie count when I am eating home cooked food so I have been trying to just watch my portions with home cooked. I know what Im around when I take food and Snacks to work so thats not too bad. Ya know, I find that there are some days that are so damn easy but then there are some days that its brutal. Whats with that? Im guessing its just my mood that affects everything. Does anyone have problems with Water? I know its so important to get lots of water but Im finding it so hard to get all the water I need. I used to drink more water before getting banded. Uhhh what to do... Gotta try harder, I know!

    I FINALLY did it!

CONGRATULATIONS! Thats so awesome. I have had a rough/slow start but I am finally getting it! Keep it up mama! I hope to start being as successful as you!
  8. Whats a good fitness challenge for this week? Anyone up for extra work? Lets say, 15 squats and 30 crunches a day (more for those who can?)?
  9. Hi everyone. It has been difficult for me to get onto the computer the past several days but I wanted to say hello! Everyone is doing so good! Keep it up everyone! The end of the month is almost here. I have only been able to exercise a couple times since I last posted. I did throw in a few jogs with my walks on the tredmill. I am hoping this week is a little easier for me, time wise... I did lose 2 pounds and finally broke the 230 mark. Before getting up to 250 over the last year, I hovered at 230 for a good year and a half so being that I saw the scale say 228, I am so super thrilled! It was inspiring. I haven't been too bad with eating and exercise but I know I can do better so I am trying to use this inspiring 2 pounds to keep me motivated! Still hoping to hit at least 7 more by the end of the month!
  10. Ok so just getting myself set up for tomorrow. I haven't been on here in a while and I haven't been super focused for a while particularly due to holidays... Halloween- several days of lots of candy... Thanksgiving- a couple days of sweets and food... Christmas/New Years- multiple days on various weeks of bad food and sweets (parties and gatherings). Okay so I admit that I haven't been very good but even with all that, I am now about 7 pounds less then I was this time last year... 20 pounds down in 3 months... since starting this including pre-op. So even though I haven't been great and I haven't lost 30 pounds, I still see myself as a success. Especially with not gaining (like I always do) between October 25 and January 1. So with all that said, I have gained a new focus for the new year. I'm ready to refocus myself. Thanks for listening and allowing me to express my new dedication to ME!
  11. Okay so today is the 3rd... So whats our challenge for this week? Maybe to add a 5 minute jog (even if its 1 minute at a time) per 20 minutes of walking? (I read somewhere that adding jogging in between for a few minutes can jump up calorie burn by 10 calories per minute).
  12. Thanks. Im glad Im not the only one who had difficulty with the holidays. I wish I was banded in like July so I had a few extra months but I was banded in September so holidays came while I was still learning and adjusting. Thats okay though! WE are ALL back on track for the New Year! Good luck everyone!
  13. Hi everyone! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Its been a really long time since I was on but with the new job, holidays and other crap... I haven't been feeling up to tracking anything. But I am here again and recommitted to myself! I have been pretty off track with all the holiday things. I am disappointed that I haven't lost more but I am proud that in 3 (almost 4) months I am down 20 pounds. Sure, could be a lot better but its not and Im okay with that! I am about 7 pounds less then this time last year so thats a bonus too! With this new year, I am re-committed, re-focused! I hope that everyone is well and had wonderful holidays! I will be reading that last few pages of posts to catch up a little!

Goal for the next 3 weeks before my next doctor appt... at least 3 pounds! Should be do-able as long as I stay focused and avoid candy (past couple weeks I gave in to my old habits, fortunately I did not gain any weight from it (yet)). Sounds like most of you are doing really good! Happy to hear that! Keep it up everyone!

Trying to find out how to get band removed

You have to do what you have to do for you but here is my two cents.... Don't give up... Don't beat yourself up. You are not defeated, you just need the right support. Go online and search for local support groups- other then where you had the surgery... Use this site more (looking at your statistics, you haven't been on here much... 5 posts since May... thats not enough to get support, use it, use us! I find it super helpful... Go to therapy... It looks like you've only been banded several months... If you are losing weight, whats the reason to remove it? Its not hurting you to keep it there. You may need to get filled more. But even with that, from what I understand, its not just the band tightness; its the mental process. Sounds like you are stressing yourself too much.. Its NOT a diet. Eat normal foods, just in moderation. And are you REALLY hungry or are you just wanting to eat? (I have only been banded since September but realized a couple days ago that I have been eating more because I wanted to, not because I was hungry... So now that I am aware of that, I will monitor myself more). As far as recipes... screw recipes, cook normally. Just eat less initally and if you are still truly hungry- give yourself some 15 minutes then eat more. And... you got the surgery already, which seems to be successful for you for the most part... why would you want to get another surgery to remove it and possibly set yourself up for failure? What if you remove it and you have NO restriction and CANT diet and lose weight and risk gaining back all the weight you did lose? And do you HONESTLY believe you can lose weight and diet without the band? Obviously it didn't work before you were banded, because if it did, you wouldn't have needed the surgery to begin with. I was told that it takes 6 months to a year to really get a grip on this process... You just need to gather your thoughts, build up your motivation and inspiration and start all over again. Start fresh... Don't think about whats been happening... Tomorrow, is a new day.
  21. Okay... I think I just need to vent or to get support or just encouragment from some one/some where. I was banded September 7. Since the pre-op, I am down 16 pounds.... Yeah its not bad since I have been eating normal food and not on a strict restriction yet. Just had my first fill 2 weeks ago, Im at 2cc now. Problem is.... as above... I am eating normal and not super restricted. I don't even think that THAT is the problem cause I DO notice a change in how often and how much I eat... The real problem is... this whole halloween thing... ya know, ya buy candy 3 weeks before cause its on sale and ya eat half of it before the day comes... YEAH THATS the problem... well, the day has come and gone... now what... I am and have always been a Junkfood Junkie... I have an addiction which I have been trying to control.... Okay so I recognize where I failed myself but now... how do I focus again... I don't think I have gained any weight (yet) due to my downfall but then again, since last week, I refuse to get on the scale until another 2 weeks (after my next period-TMI sorry).... I beat myself up for my issues but I recognize the problem and okay sooo I screwed up.. fine... but I need to focus again... ITS SOOO HARD... SOOOOO please someone, give me words of inspirations... words of guidence... How do I motivated myself to get up at 5:45 to go to the gym before work without being cranky, resentful and miserable? Something? Anyone? Funny thing is that I have PLENTY to motivate me but those things aren't motivating me. Geeessssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Please let tomorrow bring me the inspiration, motivation and dedication!!!!! THANKS for listening... ummm reading.... lol (if anyone bothered!
  22. Thanks for the thoughts, ideas and comments everyone! Im doing a little better, yesterday I did walk about my neighborhood a little rather then hitting the gym, I jogged a little too to boost the calorie burn... I am gonna go to the gym today though, leaving at 7 since I don't work till later today. The reason I'd rather go to the gym is because I will exercise longer if Im there rather then around my house. And I will do things that will burn more calories. Gotta kick my own butt I guess! I think Im going to put up a big sign across from my bed that says Get Up and Just Do It! Thanks again! Oh and thanks for the 100 reasons. I have my own list so now I can add to it and put it on my wall too.... LMAO until I lose another 15 lbs, Im gonna have a lot of crap on my wall! LOL
  23. Hang in there... I was told I was DENIED for the surgery for 3 weeks.... Then they sent the last of the paper work a few days ahead.... I was prepared to self pay- even brought a hefty check as "down payment." ...I was APPROVED 2 days before surgery.... Point is... HANG IN THERE! Don't totally freak out yet... keep calling... ask if YOU can do anything to get this rolling...
  24. My family and boyfriend got nervous at the last minute too, kept questioning if I was sure I wanted to do this... I questioned myself sometimes too but I did it cause ultimately, either I get help with my weight by surgery and risk complications (which there are very minimal) or I risk health complications due to my weight... You have to do what you feel is best for you. Just because your aunt is an RN doesn't mean she knows too much about the Lap Band Surgery. She probably only sees the people who have it that do have complications but in the larger spectrum, there are few complications but again, sure, there are risks to everything and it is a serious surgery. Maybe you should speak with your surgeon and the surgical team further, and bring your parents with you so they better understand it. And as far as failed bands.... the band generally doesn't fail, its the owner of the band that causes the band to fail.
  25. Hi everyone! Its been a while since i last posted. Hope everyone is doing good. I read most of the posts that I missed. Boy, a week or so missed... sooo much missed. I had my first fill yesterday... from 0 to 2 CCs. The nurse thought I had .5 but turns out that I had none. The process felt really weird but not painful and it was really simple. Hopefully this will help me do better. They keep telling me Im doing great but of course, nothing is good enough for me! 16 lbs down since pre-op and... well.... Its really pretty good but I'd like more of course. Anyhoo, I'll be around. Everyone keep up the great work and hang in there! :w00t:
