Hey everyone,

Looking at some of these threads, I realized that my process went really fast. Heres an idea of how fast:

First Consultation : March 24,2010

Insurance Approval request: March24,2010

Insurance APPROVED: March 30, 2010

Psych Consultation : April 5, 2010

Imaging : April 5, 2010

Dietician Consultation: April 6, 2010

Lab work: April 6, 2010

Pre-op appointment: April 14,2010

Surgery Date: April 21,2010

See, it all happened in less than a month...Too Fast?:)

mine happened in 36 days....and i'm chalking it up to....we are the lucky ones!!! I thought about this and researched it months before I even mentioned it to my hubby or pcp....so by the time I had my first visit with the surgeon I would have been cool with having surgery that day! haha

good luck on wednesday!!!

Mine was a 2 week process! Just be mentally & emotionally prepared! It was overwhelming for me 2 days post op. Still wouldn't change a thing- cept maybe one last Pasta meal.lol

My process was fast as well (about 6 weeks) because I'm a self-pay in Canada.

I look at it like this: what would you be doing in the time if you had to wait 3 months, 4 months, etc??? Well, I know I would be eating like it was my last few months on earth and just gaining more weight. So for those of us who do not have to wait, I think it's a blessing!

Good luck!

I can only hope that my process is as speedy. I have been thinking about this for 3 years. Hubby was against it from the beginning. I told him last year this was no longer his choice. Started researching, watching the surgeries, reading risks and success studies. I committed myself to doing this last October. Went to a few different seminars led by different docs. Then, watched an on line seminar or two before I decided which doc. My first appt is Tuesday. I am most certainly ready for this. If I could have the surgery before June, it would not be too soon for me.

Best of luck!

I WISH my process was that fast! This past 4 months of the "Diet" has been agonizing. I want the surgery done YESTERDAY! How awesome that you got your insurance approval so fast! Good luck with your surgery!

Mine was pretty quick too. Went to a seminar on Feb 25, surgery scheduled for April 22. This was mostly due to a goof in the insurance company, which first said I wasn't covered (I am) then agreed. I did do a LOT of legwork first, a lot of research and very careful reading of my insurance policy.

No, not too fast. As long as you're really prepared, emotionally and informationally. Do you feel prepared? If not, what do you need still?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
