I was banded on 3/11/10 by Dr. William Richardson at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans La. He came highly qualified.

So far so good, spend one night in hospital where I did not sleep because they were in every hour on the hour for BP and temp. Came home yesterday and resting well. Tolerate little skim milk in Protein this morning, few ounces of chicken broth, tiny noodles chewed up and proper. So far no need for pain meds, nausea meds, only using Tylenol pain for kids. Works fine.

I am 63 years old weighed 246 lbs, lost 21 lbs in past 8 weeks. Looking forward to a long process of losing weight to get to my goal of 160 lbs. This old girl will feel new in a few weeks.

Congratulations Beverly. I'm scheduled on March 24th. It's good to hear that you are not having a lot of discomfort. I will not be spending the night at the hospital and am planning to go back to work 5 days post op. Do you think that is doable?

Hi there. I was banded last Monday and didn't spend a night in the hospital. A week is really a good amount of time to take off. I was only planning to take about three days off, but I decided to take the full week. I return to work tomorrow and am feeling terrific. I went for a walk this weekend, sat and fished with the kids, and sat comfortably through a movie at the theater too. What do you do for a living? Does it require a lot of speaking and moving?

Austin, Texas

pre-banding 291 lbs.

Banded on 3/8/10

Current: 271 lbs.

i was banded on 3/11 too and i was planning on going back to work tomorrow but the gas pains in my shoulder really got to me today and it hurt to drive. so i am going to take the full week off my surgeon recommended. bc i drive 1 hour and half to work and school 5 days a week. im on a liquid diet but i wasnt able to get enough nutrients and was exhausted the whole time, so i had some cream of wheat and i feel sooo much better. so im making liquids to drink. i also started to take some Vitamins and calcium chews today. im hoping that it gets better bc i need to go back to work on friday after my follow up with my dr.

Beverly, Congratulation are our decision to band. I was banded January, 2008. It was the best decision I have ever made. I have no more pain in my joints. I move around now with no effort.

Hey

My name is Amy. I'm 21, from Australia. I was banded last week 9 March 2010. I had the same thing the first night with the nurses coming in every hour. I have lost 5kg in the last week (sorry i don't know how much that is in pounds).

Congratulations on your loss so far and good luck for your weight loss journey.

Amy

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
