Getting prepared.....an update

Recommended Posts

Well, hello everyone. It's almost March and that means the countdown is on....

I have been out of town the last week and so glad to be home. I found out that I passed the psych eval....YAY!!! I have all my pre op tests on Tuesday, March 2nd and see my reg doc on March 8th to get clearance for surgery....Pre op diet starts the 10th and surgery is the 24th. I am thinking of ways to keep myself busy pre and post op to not think about food or eating. I plan to purchase a new cross stitch pattern and thinking of re learning to play piano. Any other suggestions you guys have to stay busy? I plan to take short but frequent walks and drink lots of Water.....I may have a prat time job as well. I got a call and have to set up an interview...its a very low stress low activity job so that may help to keep me occupied....

Hope all of you are well....any suggestions are always welcomed.

Meg

I have been doing a pre pre op diet tha last week or so....Been walking more and watching my fat, caloric and carb content. I also have been having 1 Protein Shake a day. I have already lost 9 pounds!!!!:wink2:

I have also cut out all soda and drinking lots of water....I feel so good. Seems I already have more energy....

Congrats on your 9 pounds!! You're doing great! Cutting out soda and upping your Water intake are both great jump starts for your surgery! And walking is going to be your best friend after surgery to help minimize the gas pain!! Keep up the hard work - you're going to do wonderful with your band! :wink2:

I'm trying to get ready as well. My surgery is Mar 18 and my pre-op diet starts Mar 11. I am also doing Protein shakes now and trying to increase my activity so I can be ready for surgery. I need to work on the Water intake, though. I have a pre-op class on Tues that lasts 4 hours and will cover the pre and post-op diet again in more detail, excerise, and the whole hospitalization (I have to stay overnight). I am getting anxious and just hoping nothing comes up to delay the surgery. I started this whole process back in Oct with the first seminar and have finally made it to this point.

Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis during this time and am just hoping that doesn't cause any problems though when I talked to the bariatric program coordinator, she didn't forsee any issues with that. Just so nerve wracked right now! Good luck and keep us posted on here.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
