Recommended Posts

alright so i got my surgery on the 5th of this month. i've lost around 20-22 pounds since then. and now its just not going anywhere. i will admit that i don't walk as much as i did the first week, because i go to school for a full day and when i get home i just feel like crashing

what should i do? is this normal? i go back on the 1st of feb to get my followup appt and possible first fill, eeeek

I think the key to success is to not put too much pressure on yourself until you have restriction. That doesen't mean eat whatever you want, just don't obsess over the scale. I lost 20 in the first month and then it took another 3 months to lose 20 more. I have tried to convince myself it will happen. I will say once you have some restriction it makes eating less much easier. If it is possible get fills as often as you can until you get restriction. My doctor lets you come back every 2 weeks. I wish I would have heeded my own advice. I would be farther along. Best of luck

Patience is the key right now. You are just beginning. You have a long road ahead. 20-22 lbs is a fantastic amount of weight to loose in about 2 weeks.

If you really, really want to do some trouble shooting to find out what is going on, log your food. It is a lot of work, but invaluable for those who need a realistic review of what they are doing right and what they are wrong.

You won't lose at the same pace as the first two weeks any more at all. Even after you reach restriction, it will be one or two pounds a week with an occasional bigger loss. Even on the Biggest Loser, they lose excessive amounts the first week and then they go much slower after that. We can't work out 8 hours a day like they do so we need to just relax, exercise as much as we can, and then be patient. I walk in the morning because I know I won't do it after work. It makes my whole day so I have grown to really like it. Then when I get home from work, I can relax without guilt. You might want to try this... Best of luck!!! Congrats on your weight loss!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
