Getting Banded on 1-22-10, so why do I feel...

Recommended Posts

So down and out...

I was so happy when I got my approval, but for the past couple of days I have been a little down about it. I know that I need to do this because I have had no long lasting success on my own and it's just a matter of time before I have serious health issues because of my weight.

I am grateful to have the most awesome support from my family and my dear best friend!! I am also grateful that I have medical insurance and that they are paying for this!!

To sum it up...I feel like such a failure because I can't lose the weight without having surgery to help me.

I just want to know if this is a normal feeling? :w00t: Have any of you felt this way?

Thanks for letting me get this off my chest :)

its very, very normal

2 days before surgery i broke down and cried, sobbed becuase i felt like such a failure that i had to have someone/some thing 'help' me lose the weight i gained

i got it together sucked it up and realized how thankful i am i have some one - some thing to help me AND that I realized I needed the tool.

Once I put my mind to it (for the 2nd time) I was ready to roll and I have not regretted

You are by no means a failure. Isn't that what the majority of dieters do? Lose weight only to gain it all, plus more?

The band is a tool that has helped me keep off the weight I've lost. It's a silent partner; we work as a team. I think you're doing a good thing for your body in that you will no longer be losing and regaining weight,

And you will have this partner with you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, unlike anyone you could meet and work out with at a gym.

There's nothing like feeling the difference when the weight starts coming off, and you know the scale can continue to go down.

You're definitely no failure, though you can become a big loser!

Tealeaves, be sure to keep us posted. Your surgery is coming up pretty fast, so I'll be looking forward to finding out how you're doing.

I know you have lots of support from family and your best friend, and that is fantastic! So did I.

But if you ever need to talk to another bandster, please don't hesitate.

By the way, I've lived in Van Nuys for quite some time, and I like where I'm living now. We could have been neighbors! :w00t:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
