I'm soooo tired! Any suggestions??

Recommended Posts

Hi there! I was banded December 3rd, and have been feeling GREAT! However, the last week, I have been so darn tired all of the sudden. I make sure and get plenty of Protein and excercise. I take mutivitamins and sublingual b Vitamins every day. I cannot figure it out. I wondered if maybe it's just my body adapting to the weight loss or something. I have lost 40 lbs so far, with half of that happening right in the beginning. I lose 3lbs a week like clockwork now. I keep track of my calories and nutrition....I usually hit about 1000ish every day.

So is this just part of the changes, or is there something I can be doing to maintain a better energy level? I have 5 littel kiddos, so this is really really hard!

Thanks!

~Mya

If you had any blood sugar issues before surgery and it is evening itself out now, it can cause this. It is worth a vist with your doc at least on the phone. It is also a good chance that it is the weight loss. I had a couple days like that but it was in the first week after surgery, and I attributed it to inflammation. I also felt that way for a few days before coming down with a cold recently. I wish you the best. your weight loss is amazing.... Keep up the good work!!!

@JoJo...thank you so much for replying. I dont' think I had any blood sugar issues before. I know that I am very carb sensitive though. I have always been. I try and keep my carbs to a minimum. But you are right, this feels exactly how I would feel if I was having too many simple carbs.

I had my surgery out of the country, so my follow up care has not been ideal. I do go back next week for my first fill, so I will be sure to ask when I am there. I also made an appt with a dietician for next week, so I can check there as well.

Thanks for the kudos about the loss. I am very excited! I still have about 80 lbs left to go....seems like so far away.

I thought of something else for you.... Personally I hate Water but when I am feeling less energy I ususlly find that I have neglected drinking it for at least part of the day. If I drink it, I immedietely feel better. You mentioned your calories but not your water intake so maybe this will help...... Have a great week!!!!

Thanks! I actually LOVE water. I should have mentioned my water intake. I get just under 1 gallon a day. While this is wonderful, bathroom trips take up A LOT of my day!

In addition to your multi-vitamins are you taking extra Iron supplements? After surgery we sometimes end up being anemic. My regular physician said I am anemic which is why I am tired and pale. He has me taking two supplements tablets a day to get my iron levels up.

ohhh! Good point! I am almost always on the lower side with my iron. I didn't think about it until now. Do you take a chewable? Do you mind sharing what kind? The only liquid I know of is floridix....and it is nasty! I will pretty much try anything to get rid of this tired feeling. Interestingly, my Husband keep commenting on how pale I appear. I think you may be on to something!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
