5 Day Pouch Test

Recommended Posts

I have just read about the 5 Day Pouch Test. Did anyone lose weight during the 5 days? If you have lost weight, how much did you lose?

Thanks!

I just read about this test. I don't know if anyone has lost weight on it or not, but I am certainly gonna try it to make sure I haven't messed my little baby up.:tt1:

If you have started bad eating habits again or noticing that you are eating bigger portions, it is a plan that only lasts 5 days but brings you from liquids back up to Proteins to try to get you in "tune" with your pouch again. Many people have success with it, but I have not tried it yet.

thx for the info crzy...

i just started feeling restriction, but had been eating kinda badly post surgery, i wonder if i should do it...just do liquids, then mushies, then Proteins like eggs & cheese...a couple days of each of the 3 stages post surgery?

where would I find the specific guidelines to follow to do it?

Click that link in blue in my post above. I reread it last night and the only change I would make is I wouldn't cook my meat dry like it suggests on day 4 and 5. That may work for some bariatric procedures but not our band. Cook your meat as you usually do.

lol, thx again...I'm still getting used to this site & what to click on & how to set things up, like my ticker, etc.

the plan looks very do-able...if anything it's there to get us all back on track from time to time if we need it...I like that.

have a good weekend :)

I'm on Day 4 of the test and have lost...2 pounds. Which doesn't seem like a lot or enough to me for what I am doing, but I was on a month-long plateau and trying to get back on track from the holidays, so I'll take it!

I just finished the "test" yesterday. I lost 2 pounds, but more importantly I did two other things. 1) I crushed my sugar addiction cravings, and 2) I let my band rest for two days during the liquid phase, which really settled things down and made my pouch a bit smaller (I think). It gave me better restriction without needing to get a fill. I recommend the "test" only for those who may have gone off the right path (especially during the Christmas break) and need a jump start. It's not to be done regularly, as it was designed for gastric bypass patients, and doesn't really follow the band post-op eating plan. For me, it was great becuase it made me realize what I had to do for three weeks when I got my surgery - how much of a struggle it was - but how much it was amazingly worth it!

timmmers,

Sounds like it did the trick for you, thats great. It's good

that you mentioned that it gave your band a rest and also that it's not to be done regularly...looks like you're doing awesome since your band date! Congrats!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
