hello i need some help i don't know what to do

so i was so ready to get this surgery and i went to a couple apointments only needed a couple more but when i went to the psycologist she told me since i am a compulsive eater and i have anxiety that she thinks i need to work on my mind some but she said she wont deny me for the surgery

so for the past week in a half i been eating less and did manage to lose 6 pounds but i keep feeling like i want to binge cause im so starving and yes i am eating i eat probally 1700 calories a day and im working out im just soo hungry i hate it and i feel like if i don't get this surgery im going to be right where i am next year sitting here still big wishing i had it cause i need it to help me with my hunger

but i also did something stupid and didnt call to calcel my appointments i just never showed up and i think the nutritionist was pretty mad cause she left me a message but i was soo tired and over slept to call in

so what should i do ? should i still pursue it i really want to cause its not that i want to binge but i want to eat cause im starving and i know if i keep on this im only going to end up bingeing and that is not what i want i need something that will make me feel full

im really confused right now

You aren't alone.

Follow thru on your appts

I would suggest seing a therapist weekly while you are on this journey. Only you know whether or not this is right for you but your need to have a great mindset and on teh right track. My surgeon made it clear the closet needed to be cleaned of demons or I should at least have the tools to deal with them prior to surgery.

I have anxiety and have had it for years thanks to my heredietary not too much I can do.

I see a therapist regularly and take daily medication. I have also been an emotional eater all my life.

Down depressed lets eat thru it and be consoled

Happy celebrating - lets eat and so on

REmember you can always pull the plug before surgery.

You have learned something about you, so consider that knowledge a tool to help you in this process. Thats why we have a psych visit. Don't consider it a failure.

If you are concerned about cost se if your employer has an EAP provider- you usually get 3 or 6 free visits per year and it bypasses your insurance.

Good luck-

t

I would go for it! I too was a compulsive eater, emotional eater and just plaine enjoyed eating! I have found that the band tells me when to stop even when I dont want to and it has been my saviour. I couldnt have come this far without it,and now I find I donr think about food all the time, and wouldnt dream of trying to eat anywhere near half the amount of food I did before. Good luck on the journey.:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
