Bones & "squishiness"

Recommended Posts

Hello! I was just wondering if anyone else who has been banded for at least 3 months is having the same experience that I am having...

I have been banded for just over 6 months. I have lost 70lbs and 42in. I am now feeling bones that I have not felt in a very looooong time. It sometimes takes me by surprise when I feel this hard "bump" and then realize that "bump" is a hip bone or wrist bone. On the flip side, parts of my body that were once relatively firm (ie. boobs and belly) are turning squishy. My belly has always been big, yet firm. It is now shrinking and shakes like jelly. I keep telling myself that my belly was so firm b/c it was packed w/ fat. And now that my body is using my excess fat, my belly is feeling looser. :)

On a strange (yet true note), I have gone up a cup size.

I would be thankful for gaining a cup size! that's awesome! I was a DD before surgery and now it's like I have nothing.

yes, I know exactly what you mean about feeling bones you are not used to. My hip bones are the ones that have stuck out the most to me, as well as my ribs, even my wrists and knees. I do have some of the squishy, loose skin but I plan to have most of that removed. I started at 282 in March of 08 and was down to 130 by this summer. I'm in a fluctuating phase right now due to a revisional surgery but I still feel the bones :)

You may not have actually gone up a cup size, you may just now have a bra that fits properly. A 38D and a 40C will usually both fit a person but one will fit a person properly and the other doesn't.

I got quite squishy and was very alarmed, lol.

But in the end, I ended up with very little loose skin. I would now desribe my skin as about 1/2 a size too big for me. I now feel firm and toned, I have visible muscle, and you can feel that my body is very fit. But it just has a bit of drapiness over the top of it - probably nothing anyone else would ever notice.

It was definitely serious exercise that got rid of the squishiness.

Lol remember in Bridget Jones's Diary when she is making out with the young guy and he says 'Mmmmm....you're all squashy!' and she grabs her clothes and books it out of there. Tooo funny.

I've got the squish going on too. I hate when my husband jiggles me. It's a gross feeling.

Hi! I was actually getting scared thinking I had lumps in my chest and realized it was bones I hadnt seen or felt in years! My hip bones are poking out and I LOVE it! Ive always been bottom -heavy, so since Ive lost 85 pounds, my butt feels soft and so do my thighs. Supposedly, it takes about a year and a half after you have reached goal for your skin to adjust to your new body. Although, I willl never be firm, maybe with exercise, some of this extra jiggle will firm up. But, Im not complaining, believe me. Hell, plastic surgery is always an option. So, I welcome those lumps and bumps. Bring 'em on!:)

I've been fat since age 8 so I'm definitely experiencing the same thing! About a month ago was playing with my knees and noticed a little notch right below the knee cap. I couldn't stop poking it in wonderment. My roommate laughed at me, haha! I also love lying on my back and feeling my hip bones and ribs. I used to have to dig to feel them and now I can glide right over them. It's a nice feeling.

My butt is so flabby ;__;. I almost miss my bigger, but firm, tooshie. Almost.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
