  1. Congrats! I was hoping to be there by the end of July. Maybe the beginning of August is more like it if I can get past the hump I am currently experiencing. I have been stuck at 208......oh well
  2. The doctor's says to concentrate on healing the first month. I was on mushies two weeks after surgery and ate lots of mashed potaoes. Needlesstosay, I gained a pound the first month post surgery. When I went in for my first fill, I thought my doctor would be furious. Even the nurse who weighed me eyed me suspiciously. However, my doctor reassured me that it was okay and I was ready to really get on track. I had 1.5 cc added in my first fill, so know that I was hungry and working on sheer will power. Give it time. My biggest success was fifteen pounds in the month of May. That month, I excercised daily and made sure I got in my 60-80 grams of protein a day. The area around your band is swollen and is healing itself, remember? So, there may be tightness which causes you to eat less.

Let's hope it'll get better. Have you thought about going back to the shake and protein pre-op with no carbs? You know, to jump start yourself. I have lost 7 pounds in the last six weeks and wanted to lose more than that so I've been thinking of going back to the pre-op. Just an idea.
  4. when I had surgery, I was told GasX chewables. I was popping them like M&M's. They did little to relieve the gas, but as someone said...the walking did!!!! and so did my heating pad. Good luck! Welcome to bandland
  5. It was your blog that got me in trouble.....(lol)
  6. Yes, it's true I don't neglect the household for the computer. I leave my log on info up so anyone can read anything on my pc. Also, it's like many of you say, he doesn't know answers to specific lapband and food problems. I tried to let him read the site but so far he has not wanted to. I compare the eating and addiction analogy and that did not go over well cause he thinks it's "simple" to lose. I just come on once in the morning (when the kids are asleep) and maybe once in the afternoon but I am no longer coming on the site in front of him although he has not said anything else about it since last week. I did agree to not get on often and try not socializing/commenting but I don't know how that will turn out. Thanks everyone!

I missed you too, lady, I'm so glad you received your insurance approval and you have my support on your decision to have the sleeve. Good luck and push through that last supper syndrone. Can't wait to see the new you! uh oh oh
  8. He has my FB password and I have his. We do not check each others emails, phones, or anything else....his recommendation for the most part. He is welcome to info because I stay logged on. I don't ever have personal/private chats.
  9. yeah, I decided to get on when he's at work and the children are asleep....early in the morning, except now cause the children are out. He says that ppl on the pc get more attention from me than they do. I don't think that is true but oh well. I guess my biggest problem is I don't want the support turned off. His way of supporting me is not working. He said it is because I want someone to side with me when I am eating wrong (NOT TRUE). I told him, I just want him to listen sometimes, and not judge....just listen. Anyway, I like the idea of sitting and making pc rules. I just wanted to be sure this wasn't a control thing, cause that's not my style.
  10. I get them. It is my signal to stop eating....only thing is they don't hurt.
  11. that's awesome!!!!! and you took pictures?
  12. I visit this site about three times a week. It provides support and inspiration. Well last week, I was on here and I decided to comment on someone's blog. I don't comment too often but I felt compelled to because I completely understood the person's discouragement and I wanted to motivate her/him not to base weight loss on pictures taken. Anyway, my would-be husband became upset and acted a fool because I was blogging. First, he started accusing me of being on FB, when he found out I was on this site, he became more upset and started ranting about chatting with unknown ppl and beginning unhealthy/flirty relationships on here. He said they (these relationships) begin with a sob story response. On and on....... I don't get his anger? I don't think I come on here too often and I need the support. I told him that I would not visit as often but I will not give it up...not even to save our relationship? Don't I have the right? I'm not doing anything wrong on here and I don't like feeling like I have to sneak on when I'm not doing anything wrong. Has anyone experienced this?

  14. When you go in for your fill, explain this to your doctor. Perhaps she/he can recommend a different "after fill plan". My doctor says clear liquid the first day (and a shake for protein although I don't always do the shake), Second day fluids..including coffee,.... third day, mushies. After third day, regular food plan. Maybe you have a 14cc band and just need more. I understand your frustration about starving. When I feel like that I eat a filling food or drink water to try and block the feeling.
  15. Welcome back, I'm glad to read that you are still positive and motivated.
  16. I'm sure that many of us have experienced some of the same things you write about. I gained weight my first month. I had no restiction and no clue about the "sweet spot". It seemed like a fantasy. I am now four months and have lost 50 pounds. Was it always easy? No. Did I want fast food? Many times. When you find yourself on the go, you have to order what you know is the best option there. Don't browse the menu. For example, if I must stop by a fast food joint, I automatically order some kind of grilled chicken without the bun....no combo deals at all. That way, I am not even tempted to other choices. Snacks.... I pack my own. No time? I make the time for me to have what I can eat on hand. I can always find some kind of Protein shake that meet the proper requirements at some store. Hang in there. I get a renewed energy and motivation after every fill. I'm sure you'll make better choices after your fill. That's what you have to tell yourself:smile: Banded 02/25/2010
  17. Don't be discouraged. Remember the weight didn't come on overnight and it won't leave overnight. It is logical to want weightloss for vain reasons but also think about health and other aspects of losing weight. You lost 18 pounds. That is awesome. I want to lose more weight than what I've lost too and I still cringe when I see phtots of me, but guess what? I know deep inside that had I not gotten the band, I'd be heavier now than I was four months ago. Hang in there and use that picture to be a motivation to get you to where you will be in the future. Read the success stories and think about your "before" and "after". Your doctor, the band, those in the forum ....we're here to help you experience success.
  18. So you're officially in band land!!!! Welcome.

I did eat some bites of a few things that I was not supposed to during the first week of the pre-op. I was told that I had to lose at least 10 pounds or my surgery could be canceled. I was weighed the day of surgery, and had lost 21 pounds. As far as everything else I agree with the advice given by Bklynike. You only cheat yourself. Forgive yourself for now but be ready for the post-op. Good luck!
  20. going to check it out.

Maybe you mom told her? My mom did a good job of informing the other family members.

Well, I did not hide mine surgery from anyone....and now, it is biting me in the butt. People watch everything I eat. At work, I hear things like, "Are you supposed to be eating that?" I'm always under scrutiny. I follow food guidelines very closely (haven't even tried bread, rice or pasta) but sometimes I may decide to eat something like fried fish and the crowd goes wild!!! My mother and older people in my family make remarks about "losing weight the old fashioned way". If cutting back and excercising was truly a one fit for all then most would not be overweight right? Besides, we still have to do our part with the band. Another thing, people often make the rude/nasty/thoughtless remarks when they are ignorant. I often bounce back by offereing to take them to a weightloss seminar. That shuts them up....but it is not a good feeling to feel like you have to defend your surgery decision All of the time. Well I am very much like you, an active person who eats like a bird. Follow your heart and don't feel bad about deciding not to tell whomever/whoever. Your surgery will be here soon!
  23. Amazing journey Alissa. I know what you mean about being able to cross those legs....hehehe
  24. Sounds like restriction to me!
  25. The added excercise is a positive that you should be proud of:thumbup:. I'm almost willing to bet that if you keep that going along with a change in your daily foods, you'll see a dramatic difference. A fill may not be necessary right now. Visit this site daily for encouragement, recipe ideas and advice. Also, blogging, journaling, and making videos have all been proven to help improve self worth and self-evaluation. Good luck!
