LAP-BAND Patients

It's so funny that you asked. I was banded on the 28th of June and before my surgery I thought that I will reward myself by having a sub and 24 hours before a large salad. I looked at the scale the night before the surgery and saw that I put on a few pounds. I was scared that I would be turned down but I found that the day of surgery they did not weigh me. They took me in and I filled out some papers and 45 minutes after that I was put under for surgery. So I wouldn't worry about it. Just get back on track and you should be fine. Good Luck!!

I wasn't put on a pre surgery diet. They didn't weigh me the day of surgery. I ate what I wanted until 8pm the night before. I have had a pretty good recovery I think so far. Nothing to bad. Good luck to you!

They will not weigh you before the surgery. Consider one thing, if you cheat you are only cheating yourself. You got yourself to the weight where you need surgery by not controlling yourself. The band is only a tool - it will not stop you from eating. If you have not seen a psycologist prior to the surgery, you may want to talk to one afterwards so you can find out why you do what you do. I wish you the best of luck. The post-diet is pretty difficult so know what you want, get your head on straight and go for it. You will be so proud of yourself when you have come through it and look what you are heading towards - better health at a "normal" weight. Good luck to you.

I did eat some bites of a few things that I was not supposed to during the first week of the pre-op. I was told that I had to lose at least 10 pounds or my surgery could be canceled. I was weighed the day of surgery, and had lost 21 pounds. As far as everything else I agree with the advice given by Bklynike. You only cheat yourself. Forgive yourself for now but be ready for the post-op. Good luck!
