Weight Gain
So I am 5 years 4 months post op and I got down to my goal weight and then about 2 years ago I started getting my cravings back and started giving into them and started putting the weight back on, I have since gained about 55 lbs back and I am very discouraged, and feel awful. I had a great surgeon that did my surgery, and since my surgery he has left and moved across the country and I trusted him and felt good with him, so after he left I started seeing another doctor in the practice he was in and do not like him, don't feel comfortable with him and so since about a year after my surgery I haven't been back? He didn't seem interested in knowing how I was doing or my progress so I didn't go back, and just kept doing it on my own, but now I am this far and gained weight and I am not happy with myself and I am back to where I was prior to surgery, except I can't eat as much, and as many things. I have made steps in seeing another doctor that a friend of mine referred me to, she goes to this other doctor and she loves her, and so I am going to meet with her and see how I feel. I am nervous that I have stretched out my stomach and I don't know what they can do for that? I am so disappointed in myself, cause I did so good for 3 years and kept it off, and I felt so good, and now these past 2 have just been down hill? Does anyone know if you stretch out your pouch do they do or will they do a revision? Also does that help with the cravings?

Please Help!
Thanks I do keep him as active as possible, and I don't keep snacks even for his sister. My husband has snacks, but those stay locked in our room, and he only has a few, nothing extreme, and he doesn't give them to him either, we are both working together to give him healthier eating options.

Please Help!
Ok, so I have a son that is 9 almost 10 year old son who currently weigh's 145 lbs, and I am very worried for his health. I have removed most of the junk food that is in my house, I keep fruits and vegetables and other healthy snacks that I can eat in the house for my kids to eat. I worry for my son because he is so over weight at a young age and I don't want him to grow up and have issues like I did with my weight. I want to help him now and that was one of the reasons I myself got healthy with my weight loss surgery. My son is a sports child, loves to play sports and his biggest sport is football which he plays from Aug. 1st through late November 4 - 5 days a week for 2 hour practice and then weekend games. While playing this sport he did loose the weight and has since gained it back, and now he is wrestling but it is only 1 day a week practice as he does it with our local boys and girls club. I need to help him now, and need all of your help to help me to help him. I am the only person in our house that works at the moment so money is in short supply, and I have looked into gyms and stuff like that where he could use equipment to help him with getting fit, and none of the local gyms will allow him to use any equipment even with a parent with him due to his age. I have checked the YMCA and they also won't allow him to use equipment with a parent. We also have a very small apartment with very little space to do exercising to videos (which I am working on moving rooms around to change this). We also live in New England and it is very cold here so to go for long walks at this time is very difficult with the weather. Most days we don't see temp's above 20 right now and so that is very hard to get motivated to go out and get exercise. I know my son likes snacks and he even will eat dinner and shortly after dinner he is hungry again. He will sneak food, and eat late at night when I tell him no more. I am looking for some ideas of ways to help him and snack ideas of ways to help him at this point. If anyone has any ideas to help me help my son, I would love to hear any and all suggestions! Thank you!!!

Super Dieters share their six weight loss tips
First I want to congratulate you about surgery!!! How wonderful. I also want to thank you for your kind words and encourage you to use the list as a guide. Your journey is a learning experience and no matter how much you know going in....some of those old habits may take a little practice. IF you do end up breaking rule #1 I want you to never feel shame or beat yourself up because we cannot change the past. All we have is right now and that's the only thing you can change. I will repeat again that it is easier to not do something 100% instead of 99%. In case you missed the great article that was posted in these comments by another member (Isereno), make sure and read this article too. I thought it was wonderful! http://www.gretchenrubin.com/happiness_project/2013/01/want-to-be-free-from-french-fries-or-why-abstaining-may-be-easier-than-you-think/ Be free pupichupi!! Thanks Yvonne, I will check that out!!!

Super Dieters share their six weight loss tips
Yvonne, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for posting this, I am actually having surgery tomorrow and I am super excited, but I was struggling these past few days with the issue of will I ever be able to or even want to eat the foods I love now while I am heavy, and I have decided to follow the 6 steps rule, and I definitely am going to follow step one. I don't want to be trapped like I am now, and I want to be able to get to where I have always wanted to be HEALTHY. So thanks again, I am going to copy and paste these steps to a word document and print out a bunch and post them everywhere I can see it when I grab for foods and remember what you said!!! I am going to start my new life off right.

The Biggest Loser Effect
Thank you for this post, this was a great post, and a great analogy. I personally LOVE the show the biggest loser and have watched every season since it's started, and every time I watched it I felt like it inspired me somehow that night anyway till the next day and I would just be like whatever, and the the following week I would be watching it again and being like I could do that, and the rotation began. Not this year, I am not being the quitter this time, I am going to be my own biggest loser and I am going to be inspired by myself and show myself how much I can do this I don't need a show to inspire me. Workouts aren't easy, and diets are easy. Life isn't easy, you have to put forth the effort if you really want something, and for a long time I wanted it but I wasn't willing to put forth the effort. I am ready now and I am going to do everything I need to do to get past this point in my life and move to the next chapter!!! So thanks Jean, I am glad you posted this!!!

Day 4 Pre-op
Hello Nancyinthenorth, I am starting my 2 week pre-op next wednesday and I am excited and nervous at the same time. I am more excited, but I am nervous because I won't be able to eat anything, and I have great support at home but I don't expect them to do the 2 week liquid diet with me. I mean they are going to be eating , I am going to be cooking for them, my boyfriend doesn't cook much, and we have 2 kids that will need to eat as well with him, and so I will be having all that temptation in front of me but it's a good way to show how strong i can be, so I am looking forward to showing everyone that I can do this, and I will beat this obesity thing!!! Good luck on your journey and I hope that we can help each other in the future!!!

Good or Bad
your stomach still needs to heal from having been banded!!! That is why your doc hasn't banded you yet. I didn't get my band for like 6 mos after being banded and that was cause I could eat a whole 6 inch grinder from subway? Now when you do get banded make sure you go slow, don't go too much at once, cause you don't want to go too tight. I went from being able to eat the 6 inch grinder to not being able to eat anything and now I am still having problems and it is no fun. Seems since that fill I have been having problems, and Im not saying this to scare you, but I was to a point that I wanted to tell them to take it out. This is something that I didn't realize takes alot to get used to, and so don't push it, take it slow!!! That is my suggestion!!!
-
Frustrated
Hey Sue, sorry to hear your frusterated, when did you get your band? Are you eatting every 2 - 3 hours small amounts? No one ice cream is definatly not going to kill you and make you not loose weight, just as long as your not eatting them all the time. How is your restriction with your band? You say that you can eat cold chicken? I still have a hard time with chicken??? Well it also could be that your body is going into shock, cause of this new foreign object inside you and it's just going to take a little while to get used to having this thing and then your going to start loosing big. Don't worry unless your eatting way too much, your body will catch up!!! Good luck!!!

plateau plateau plateau
What do you do for work? Maybe if you sit at a desk at all you can do some desk exercises, how is your restriction on the band? Well good luck!!!! I know plateau's need just to be pushed through!!!

Help!
Call your Doctor!!! I would definatly call and let them know that your having a hard time drinking. When you got your fill, didn't they check to make sure you could drink fluids before you left after your fill??? Thats what they did for me, and I had my fill a week ago, and trust me I have 5cc's in mine now, and I can barely touch solid foods, I am mostly drinking, and doing yogurt and small amounts of cottage cheese. I vomit everytime I eat solids right now!!! Well good luck!!!

Stressed out, getting stuck and vomiting!
Oh my goodness Poma, have you gone to see your doctor? I am so sorry to hear all that your going through, and trust me I have been there, except I have 2 kids to add to that kind of mix. I don't know if you had to see a psycologist before you went to have your surgury, but I think it would be best if you go and talk to someone!!! Stress can really be a hurtful thing to you in many different ways. You look to be very young, and you need to start doing something to release that stress in a good way, maybe write out what your stressed about and then just let it go!!! Life is what it is, and unless it's something you can change then you just have to say ok, well it is what it is, and its not going hurt me!!! I think your first step is to be thankful, you have a good brother that will let you come live with him, and then just realize that the rest will get better, just give it time!!! Well Good luck, and if you ever just need to talk, you can send me a message!!!

The guys that are so afraid of my surgery...
Honey you do your Thang, and don't let no man tell you what to do!!! Good Girl!!! You don't need their permission to do something that is going to help you be healthy!!! You need to do for you and forget them, they don't stick by you through this then when it comes to the other end, they don't get to be with you!!! I wish you good luck, and just know you can do it!!!

I can't break the habit!
Hey Chachis, I am having the same problem with the drinking thing, I feel like I have to do it, or I am going to choak, or something??? I catch myself, and so what I have been doing lately is I just don't bring a drink with me when I eat. I will deliberatly take out a drink and put it on the counter or whatever and leave it there and then walk away with my food, and go to another room and then when I am done, I will be like oh I need a drink now, and what I do is I will take a sip and wash my mouth and thats all!!! Its hard to remember just don't grab anything to drink while you eat, get it after!!! Good luck, and remember a pound lost is one less pound to your goal!!!

Day 2 Post Surgery
hi snatylove, first let me say congrats on getting your band!!! It is horrible at first, but trust me fully worth the pain!!! Couple little suggestions, drink as much water and good liquids so you don't get dehydrated, and the pain it is gas, its because they filled you up with air, and it just sits. Cough and move around as much as possible to get those gas pockets to move and break up and you will feel much better soon. Why can't you take a shower for 3 days? I could take one that very next day??? I had these waterproof white things on my belly and they didn't fall off??? Well I guess each surgen is different. Well good luck!!!

Pregnancy after lapband
Hey Stefani, I don't know much about the whole pregnancy after lapband, but I don't see how it could cause birth defects or anything like that, the lapband just makes your stomach smaller, and you still get the nutrition that you need from eatting, your just eatting in smaller portitions. I don't know fully though, but I did read the part where you said your doctor told you the infertility could be caused from you being over weight, well I have been over weight my whole life, and I have 2 children, and the two times I got pregnant was when I decided to go on a diet, and was loosing weight, so that sounds like it could be. I suggest talking to your doctor, surgen, ob about your concerns, and seeing what they have to say. Well Good Luck!!!

A good day...down 2
Yeah I think your doing good so far, and giving up soda, omg that was one of the toughest things I did!!! I loved Diet Coke, and that was my biggest down fall, and I sometimes miss it, and every once in a while I will grab a 20 oz still and just have a few sips, but it doesn't taste the same as it did before??? I am all set with having it all the time like I did before, but I will tell you that I wish I had done some of the training that your giving yourself, cause I sometimes feel like I am still very hungary and I will inhale my food, and then I am paying for it cause I am sitting there in pain!!! Trust me it's not a good thing!!! So now I sit and I try to keep it in my head that it's going to hurt and be very uncomfortable if I don't eat slowely and chew my food to mush!!! LOL You will do great, and thanks, I am really putting forth the most effort I possibly can, cause this isn't something that you can take laying around so to speak!!! I got the surgury for a reason, and I am not going to let it go to waste!!!

A good day...down 2
hi anglov, I know what you mean about eatting and drinking, but you haven't been banded yet? Ohhh boy, I hope for your sake that you do master that before hand, I wish I had, it's horrible if you eat and drink at the same time!!! I feel horrible, but it sounds like your on the right track!!! I got my band on 2-10-10, and I am so far doing very well, I am up to 35 down since, and I am very happy about my progress!!! I look forward to meeting my goal, but know that it's not going to come without pain and determination, and it's not going to come overnight or easy!!! It's gonna take alot of work!!! Well good luck, and I hope for the best, Keep up the good work!!!

Day 1 of pre op diet!
I don't know about the Jillian Micheals shakes, but I do the whey protien low sugar low carb one and I have strawberry, vanilla, chocolate & Cookie's and Cream, and I love them all, although I am a month post banded, I am still using those, I got some really yucky ones too for before the surgury from the doctors office, and it was nasty, gross, don't worry it will go by fast, and you know what you might have a hard couple of days at first but once you get into it and just do it, your not even going to think about food anymore!!! I didn't, I will tell you that I had a girls night out in the second week of my 2 week diet before my surgury, and I got a steak and mashed potatoes as my last supper kinda thing, and UGH, I could barely eat any of it!!! LOL So good luck and ask questions as much as possible if you have any, cause it will help!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!
