I began the processes in September of 2009. My insurance requires a 6 month guided diet plan that I followed with a physician at the O-band clinic here in Las Vegas. Over the course of six months my doctor discussed my weight, options of losing the weight, meal plans, and exercise. The six months flew by and on April 26,2010 I had my surgery. I was excited and eager, ready for a new beginning. When I was awaken I remember the pain in my abdomen. For the first 5 minutes all I could think was what did I do to myself. Pain does a lot to us mentally. My greatest concern was the amount of gas that I had afterwards still in my body. I've had two other laparoscopic surgeries and this was the first time that I had this gas issue. The nurse advised me that doing 200 steps in the house would help with the gas. Another concern of mine was the issue of constipation. I don't remember anyone telling me it would be so hard to go to the bathroom after surgery. I've also noticed that I still have hunger pangs. I figure that after my body acclimates to the band life will be good.
