Birth Control
I have been on birth control for years due to irregualr menstrual cycles. I don't know if it contributed to my weight gain before surgery, but I do notice I tend to eat more the week prior to starting or I get the urge to eat when I know I'm not hungry.

Restriction-What is it to you?
I got my 3rd fill on Tuesday (6 cc in a Realize Band), and it has done nothing for me. I can eat just about as much as I want, but I do try to limit myself. I can eat bread, and I still can take big bites without any troubles. I ate 1 cup of Special K cereal this morning at 7:40. My stomach was growling at me at 11:00 a.m. Is this ever going to get better or is there something wrong with my band?
-
Is the band REALLY in there?
I'm just kidding of course, but I just got my third fill today and I don't feel any different. I have the Realize Band with 6 cc in it. I can feel a little bit as my doctor puts the saline in, but afterwards I feel like I can eat anything. I do liquids for the rest of the day after a fill and then the following day. I just drank my protein shake in like 5 minutes. How long is it going to take to reach restriction and actually feel like the thing is in there? I'm very impatient .

Not Loosing and FRUSTERATED!!!
I'm kinda mad at myself. I go for my third fill this afternoon, and I weighed this morning, and I'm down 4-5 lbs. I weighed about 2 days ago, and I was down 8 lbs. for the month. I'm mad because we threw my cousin a graduation party last night, and I ate too much. Now I'm up three lbs., and I'm afraid to go get my fill because I don't know what the doctor will say. He isn't mean or anything, and probably won't say much, but I'm mad at myself for eating too much last night. Sorry. I had to vent.

Does weight loss speed up once you hit restriction?
I think I have like 2-3 more weeks before I have to go get fitted. I don't if it is my cousin wanting to get them fitted this early or if the David's Bridal requires it. I think the dress is flowy so maybe that will be better.

Does weight loss speed up once you hit restriction?
I am wandering because I am in a wedding this coming October, and I have to get fitted for my dress soon. I have had two fills, and I have lost 10 lbs. in between my first and second fill and 8 lbs. so far in between my second and third fill. I go tomorrow to get my third fill. Will that weight loss stay the same once I hit restriction or could it speed up? I know everyone is different, but I'm afraid my dress will be to big since I don't know what I will be like come October. If I lose 10 lbs. per month that may be another 40 lbs. I have lost by then. I don't know what to do.

Struggling.
I was loving not feeling hungry either, but about 3-4 weeks after surgery, my appetite returned. It was fun while it lasted

Will it always hurt to burp? (not PB, just burp)
Hum, I never had that problem.

How do you keep from not losing too much weight on your face
My face will always be chubby. It was that way in high school when I was somewhat skinny. I have puffy cheeks and a round face. I don't think mine is going anywhere, but we shall see. It will get smaller, but I don't think I'll ever look gaunt in the face.

Protein Bars
The ThinkThin bars are good, but they have like 220 calories. They sell some at Kroger here in Alabama.
-
What is really the cause of PB, and how often do you get it?
I'm over 3 months out from surgery, and have had 2 fills. I have not yet had this experience. I think it depends on how tight you are, etc.

How did you get fat?
Cool thread. I loved to eat, but I always played sports. I was active and could eat like that, but then I went through a bad breakup with my ex-fiance. I didn't start really gaining weight until I was a Sophmore in college. I thought I don't want any other guy to treat me that way so I will eat. Well I stopped blaming him for my weight gain, but I didn't stop eating. I dieted on and off for a few years with diet pills. I lost 40 pounds with those, but when I went off them the weight came back on. I then decided I wanted to look good in my cousin's upcoming wedding, and I knew I would have health problems later down the line so I decided to have the surgery. I'm glad I did so far.
-
How did you make your final decision??
This probably sounds crazy, but I have to be in a wedding this coming October so that is one reason I decided to go ahead. I know there is health problems in my family, and I know I wouldn't be able to do this through diet and exercise alone. I knew I would be self-pay so I had surgery within 1 month of having my lab work, consultation, etc. done. I didn't have to do a pre-diet or anything like that since my insurance wouldn't pay. Everything moved fast for me, but I was glad it did!

Disappointed..25 days post-op
Believe me it will get better. I was banded Feb. 8 and have lost around 34 lbs. I got my second fill this past Wednesday, and it has done nothing for me. I can eat like a horse. I know it takes a few fills to get restriction, but hang in there. It will get better.
-
What is happiness?
I know I'm not at restriction because I can eat like a horse. I also can eat any type of food, never get stuck, eat big bites, and don't chew very well. I'm looking forward to reaching restriction!

I'm getting Banded May 6th and I am worried about vomiting!
I was banded Feb. 8, 2010, and I have not vomited once due to eating. I had trouble using the restroom a few weeks after surgery that made me vomit, but nothing really related to the band. I had my second fill (5 cc in my band now), and I can still eat like a horse. I don't have any problems eating anything right now so no vomiting issues. Don't worry. It is not as bad as you think .

How long after surgery till your appetite returned?
Mine came back after about 3 or 4 weeks, but the hunger hasn't been bad. I did get hungry sometimes before I got the band, but most of the time I ate just because I wanted to. I wasn't really hungry, and it is still a struggle for me after the band.

What do you normally have for breakfast?
I usually eat a Protein bar. I like the Think Thin and the Jim's Permalean Peanut Butter bars. The Think Thin has like 20g of protein, and Jim's has 23g of protein. It holds me until lunch. I used to eat cereal for breakfast, but it doesn't have much protein. I will sometimes eat that for supper, but not often.

Under 30 Lapbanders
I am 23 and was banded on Feb. 8, 2010. Everything went smoothly with the surgery. I didn't have any gas pains. My back did hurt a little right after surgery, but I think that was from lying on the operating table. I have lost 32 pounds, and I have had 2 fills. My second one was today so I have 5 cc in my Realize band. I am a little nauseous right now. I don't know if it is from drinking my protein shake or water too fast, but hopefully it will get better. Hope this helps!
-
Anyone struggle with nausea?
I was having kind of the same problem last week. It had been going on for a week or two. I would get nauseous after I ate supper. I don't know if it was because I ate to fast or ate to much at one sitting. I would gag a few times, and it went away. It hasn't done that this week, so hopefully it has passed.

experiencing terrible pain in port area when bending over
I know how you feel. Mine still hurts sometimes when I bend over. I was banded Feb. 8 with the Realize band, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I also get a weird cramp in my lower left side. I got it this morning when I was working out. It's weird.
-
Question of the day?
That has happened to me twice since surgery. The first time was when I started eating solid food about 5 weeks after surgery, and then after I got my first fill. I don't know what causes it, but it's bothersome.

Anyone
It's my PMS week this week, and I am dealing with head hunger as well. I feel like I am hungrier this week than the others, and I do notice I have been eating more and grazing more. I'm not at restriction yet, but the TOM has always got me.

Drinking and Eating
I don't see why drinking up until you are going to eat is going to make a big difference? Liquids go right on through. I can drink right up to my meal. I don't drink during my meal (I thought it would be hard but it really isn't), and I wait about 30 minutes after to drink something.

What are you making/taking to Easter dinner
My grandmother always cooks turkey and ham and dressing. Just like Thanksgiving!
